‘Dance Moms’ Canceled: JoJo Siwa Quits For Good, Ratings Tumble, More Fraud Charges For Abby Lee Miller?

With tumbling ratings, increasing fraud charges, and more dancers jumping ship, it looks like the rumors of Dance Moms being canceled have finally come to pass of being true. But what will happen to the studio if this is, indeed, the case?

Let’s start with the report put out by iTech Post about Dance Moms being canceled. According to them, Season 7 is currently under way with filming despite all the problems plaguing the production, and Lifetime still hasn’t officially announced that the show has been canceled. So, everything is proceeding as normal, at least for now.

This doesn’t mean, of course, that Abby Lee Miller isn’t keenly aware of the issues she’s facing come November when she may be sentenced to jail for fraud. And while Season 7 is currently filming — and, assuming it isn’t canceled, it will air in 2017 — the rest of Dance Moms‘ future remains to be seen. Certainly, they can’t film the show while Abby Lee Miller is in jail, and it doesn’t sound like Lifetime is interested in filming a Dance Moms: Live From the County Jail special. So even if Dance Moms isn’t canceled quite yet, it’s only a matter of time before it will be.

If Dance Moms is canceled, there’s definitely one cast member that won’t be crying over it: JoJo Siwa. According to The Christian Times, JoJo has quit the show and walked away from the dance studio for good. Her quitting the show came right after the episode, “JoJo is a No Show,” wherein she was concerned about how the routine Abby designed for her (which was a ballet routine) would negatively affect her brand.

Moreover, the loss of JoJo from the show and the studio was taken extremely hard by Abby, who broke down in tears during filming. JoJo, along with Chloe and the Ziegler sisters, were there from the beginning of the series, and she was also the last of the original cast members to remain on the show. What happens to JoJo in the future, of course, remains to be seen, but if the success of her other co-stars is any indication, JoJo will be more than alright.

Another former cast member that isn’t crying over the possibility of Dance Moms being canceled, especially as the ratings continue to tumble, is Maddie Ziegler. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, she’s actually doing better than ever before, as she’s just released a new clothing line that will be sold in retailers.

The dancer turned entrepreneur, who is currently on tour with pop star Sia, told the outlet that she had her dancing in mind when she was designing the pieces, which are now available at Nordstrom and on her website, MaddieStyle.com.

“As a dancer, we always love comfort, so it inspired me to make a casual line that you can easily move around in without feeling restricted. I’m kind of a tomboy when it comes to my everyday style, so that definitely gave me inspiration. I was super involved in the process — from helping in designing to picking the styles and fabrics, I was really able to put my creative input in the whole line. I love everything, but the one that stands out to me the most is the sweatshirt tunic. I’m actually wearing it right now.”
