Were Rihanna And Rita Ora Kept Apart At The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards?

Rita Ora and Rihanna have been the center of feud rumors for years. The two pop stars are strikingly similar with their features and street style looks, not to mention their sexy photo shoots and social media photos.

Sources say Rihanna and Rita Ora were kept apart during the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. On Sunday night, August 28, all eyes were on Rihanna as she performed throughout the ceremony and accepted her Video Vanguard Award. But, according to reports, Rihanna was asked to be seated away from Rita Ora at the awards show, which was held at Madison Square Garden, says a source who spoke to The Sun.

“Rihanna is receiving the Video Vanguard Award and she wants the evening to be all about her. She isn’t going to let anything, or anyone upstage her. She has never liked Rita and put a call into MTV last week asking for her to be sat far away from her so she isn’t disturbed during the ceremony.”

The two artists have been a long-standing feud with Rihanna assuming that Rita Ora only signed onto her label Roc Nation to threaten her chances at success. However, Rihanna and Rita Ora looked super friendly when they embraced and posed for a picture together back in 2012, notes the Mirror. Last year, it was reported that Ora’s decision to sue Jay Z’s Roc Nation was “sparked” by her feud with Rihanna.

“Rihanna has never liked Rita and has been using her power at Roc Nation accordingly. This is the main reason the label’s execs have been uninterested in putting effort into promoting Rita. Songs that might be submitted to her are automatically given to Rihanna, who may hold them for months before deciding she doesn’t want them. The fact that Rita’s ex Calvin Harris is on their management books hasn’t helped either.”

Rita was finally freed from her contract earlier this year. In case you forgot, Rihanna and Calvin Harris have collaborated several times over the past few years. Their latest collaboration was on the hit song “This Is What You Came For.” The two artists previously worked together on “We Found Love” and “Where Have You Been.” Meanwhile, Ora worked with her famous ex-boyfriend on their song “I Will Never Let You Down.”

Last year, it was reported that Rihanna banned Rita Ora from her Met Gala after-party. The “Needed Me” singer held her party at the Up & Down nightclub in New York City following the event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. According to sources who spoke to The Sun, Rih refused to give Rita an invitation to her party simply because she can’t stand the British pop star.

“She has a real issue with Rita and this was her chance for revenge. She made it clear when organizing her party that Rita was not to gatecrash under any circumstances.”

Before the party, Rihanna was reportedly seen hanging out with Rita’s former friend Cara Delevingne, which caused a “very icy” atmosphere between Rita and Cara. However, an inside source told the British tabloid that Rita had no plans to attend Rihanna’s after-party and choose to spend the night hanging out with Miley Cyrus instead.

“It was very icy between Rita and Cara. They spent the night trying to ignore each other. Rita decided to hang out with Miley Cyrus instead. She was never going to Rihanna’s party because she’d made plans to go to another bash.”

And it seems like Rita Ora and Rihanna can’t escape the similarities when it comes to their personal style and tattoos. Not to mention, they both have fashion collaborations with major athletic brands. Earlier this month, Ora took to Instagram to show off her new tattoo, which is a pin-up model featured under her right breast, according to Idolator. She then removed the post after receiving a ton of backlash for posting the revealing photo.

Rihanna’s fans took to social media to accuse her of copying Rihanna’s underboob tattoo, which is of the Egyptian goddess, Isis, of motherhood and fertility, according to the Daily News.
