The new batch of behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall gives fans a glimpse of co-star Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s new look. According to Comic Book Movie, the character known as Red Mist in the first cinematic installment of the popular comic book series is now referred to as The Mother F—er. If you thought the sequel would be any less vulgar than its predecessor, it would appear that you were seriously mistaken.
Kick-Ass 2, which is being helmed by director Jeff Wadlow, pretty much continues where the first film left off. The Red Mist, angry over the death of his beloved father, decides to get revenge on the superhero known as Kick-Ass. Since the comic book doesn’t shy away from all sorts of outrageous violence, moviegoers should prepare themselves for a wide variety of over-the-top theatrics.
According to MTV News, Mark Millar, the mastermind behind the Kick-Ass comic book, attempted to shed some light on the latest batch of behind-the-scenes photos. “He’s still just called Red Mist at this point. This is the scene from the end of Hit-Girl #2 where he and his henchmen try to rob a convenience store. #3 out on Wednesday, by the way, where you can see the second-half of this scene,” he explained.
Just a few days ago, set photos featuring Scrubs alumnus Donald Faison as Doctor Gravity and Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl found their way online. The images also gave fans a glimpse of star Aaron Johnson in his iconic Kick-Ass costume. Indiewire reports that the photos also showcase Clark Duke as Battle-Guy and newcomer Robert Emms as Insect Man.
Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall — which also stars Jim Carrey, Nicolas Cage, Yancy Butler, and John Leguizamo — is scheduled to arrive in US theaters on June 28, 2013. If you’re curious to see the latest batch of behind-the-scenes images featuring Christopher Mintz-Plasse, be sure to stop by Comic Book Movie. Are you excited about the upcoming Kick-Ass sequel?
