Trevor Noah Just Described Why Donald Trump Is Winning The Presidential Race

Trevor Noah appeared this week on The Ezra Klein Show to discuss his upbringing, career, and the current election cycle. The Daily Show funnyman had no shortage of opinions on the Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump.

In fact, he may have just pinned down why The Donald seems impervious to bad press.

At around the 19 minute and 30 second mark of the episode, Trevor Noah diagnosed Trump’s success with one word, and the word was “shamelessness.”

“Donald Trump has shown that all you need to do to weather any of these storms is to be shameless because essentially that is all it takes,” Noah said. “If you have no shame … you don’t care what people say about you, true or false, because there is absolutely nothing that gets to you. You exist in a vacuum — an echo chamber of your own mind.”

From there, Trevor said, that Trump couldn’t be “pinned down” because just when you think you’ve got him on a scandal, “he creates another one tomorrow.”

“Most politicians and most people — if they create a scandal — they spend the next few weeks on damage control,” he said.

To illustrate his point, Trevor Noah compared Trump to Hillary’s scandals and said that with hers, “you’ve got Benghazi, and you’ve got the emails.”

If the Democratic nominee was Trump, Noah said, “she would have just added something else to that.”

He continued.

“We’re in a world where we haven’t even finished talking about Donald Trump’s wall. I don’t know how we got to the place where we are now onto the next step, which is Trump-Pence and what he is saying about the world and the Muslim ban and so on and so forth. We have completely, completely had to abandon the wall. It has become this policy idea that will happen somehow and some way because he’s forced us to move on.”

One example of this ability to make the press move on is Trump’s unreleased taxes.

After former Republican nominee Mitt Romney blasted Trump and called for him to release his tax returns earlier this year, postulating that there was something damning in the documents, Trump fed the public a line about his returns being under audit, buried Romney for accepting his endorsement four years earlier and proceeded to beat out the remaining GOP candidates to secure the nomination long before Hillary was able to do the same with her primary opponent, Bernie Sanders.

“He’s fearless, and that comes from a world of declaring bankruptcy,” Trevor Noah explained, adding that when one declares bankruptcy, “you get over being shameless.”

“A lot of business people tell me your world comes crumbling down. You have no money. You cannot pay your debtors. You are shamed in front of everybody, but then you pick yourself back up and you do it again,” Noah said.

But what do you think, readers? Is Trevor Noah accurate in his assessment of Donald Trump’s “bulletproof” ways? Do you think The Daily Show host was unfair to the Republican candidate while he let Trump’s opponent off the hook? Sound off in the comments section below.
