Gwen Stefani Planning To Breakup With Blake Shelton To Save Her Career?

Is Gwen Stefani planning to breakup with Blake Shelton in an attempt to save her fledgling music career?

According to a new report by Celeb Dirty Laundry, Gwen is supposedly considering splitting with Shelton because she fears that her high-profile romance with her fellow The Voice coach may have overshadowed her career.

“Because of her constant PDA and love proclamations for Blake Shelton, no one wants to listen to Gwen Stefani’s music anymore,” the site claimed this week of Stefani and Shelton’s romance, which first began after Blake and Gwen were spotted getting cosy in late October.

While Billboard reported that Stefani’s latest album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, hit the top spot on the Billboard Top 200 chart upon its release in March, Chart News revealed this week that Gwen’s recent release has only mustered a total of 154,000 sales in the last four months and is currently only selling around 2,000 copies a week.

Reports have also been rampant claiming that Stefani’s accompanying tour, the “This Is What The Truth Feels Like Tour” has allegedly been hit with seriously low sales.

The New York Post reported earlier this year that Gwen’s shows aren’t exactly selling as she’d hoped, with an insider alleging to the site that ticket sales for select shows on the North American tour were so low that they’re “horrifying.”

In Touch Weekly also reported the low sales last month, claiming that those closest to Stefani were allegedly encouraging Stefani to pull the plug on her first tour since 2007 entirely before opening night on July 12.

A source claimed that Gwen’s inner circle were encouraging her to cancel to “spare herself the embarrassment and cancel or postpone” the shows for fears that Live Nation could be the ones to cancel Gwen’s string of shows around the U.S. and Canada.

However, Gwen Stefani’s tour is now officially going ahead after Gwen kicked off the first show of 28 scheduled dates in Mansfield, Massachusetts, on July 12, which will see her on the road until October.

But while Stefani’s “This Is What The Truth Feels Like Tour” is definitely on amid the rumors of poor sales, Perez Hilton claimed earlier this week that the inaugural show wasn’t exactly a sell-out.

According to the blogger, Live Nation representatives allegedly stood outside the venue prior to Gwen’s show and gave away free tickets to the concert to passersby.

Hilton also alleged that “in order to make the place seem packed, the venue cut off the lawn — which seats thousands — and relocated those people to the front.”

But despite the rumors, Blake Shelton was quick to defend his lady on social media.

“That’s right everybody.. No matter how good your eye site is [Gwen Stefani’s] show was “empty” last night,” Shelton tweeted out to his millions of Twitter followers alongside two photos of the gig that showed thousands of fans packed into Mansfield’s Xfinity Center.

After a fan then tweeted Blake another shot of the crowd during Stefani’s kick-off show, Shelton added, “Wish I could get that many THOUSANDS of people to come see me on a Tuesday night.”

But while Blake is rushing to Gwen’s defence over the low ticket sale claims, Celeb Dirty Laundry went as far as to allege that Stefani believes splitting with Shelton could be the only option to save her career and is supposedly seriously considering a Blake breakup because Gwen is “willing to do anything to stay relevant in the headlines.”

“These two singers and The Voice co-stars might have to reassess their PR-heavy romance and cool it on their constant Instagram selfies and teenage puppy love before it’s too late,” the site then suggested.
