Rihanna and Chris Brown shocked quite a few people when they shared a brief kiss at Thursday’s MTV Video Music Awards, but nobody was more surprised than Karruehce Tran, Brown’s girlfriend.
Us Weekly reported that the 23-year-old aspiring model was “totally pissed” when Chris Brown showed his appreciation for Rihanna winning “Video of the Year” with a kiss.
“She felt the kiss was a public slap in the face,” a source told Us Weekly. To make matters worse, the Rihanna and Chris Brown encounter wasn’t even supposed to happen, as Chris decided at the last minute to attend the VMAs and didn’t tell his girlfriend.
Tran has had some bad blood with Rihanna in the past. The two have battled via Twitter, and, late Thursday, Tran posted a picture on Instagram that said “Treat Your Girl Right.”
“[Karrueche] and Rihanna really hate one another and Chris ultimately just does what he wants,” the source continues. “Seeing him with Rihanna at such a public event made her very angry.”
There could be more to Rihanna and Chris Brown’s relationship than a small peck. Earlier this year, Us Weekly reported that the pair has been meeting secretly to hook up multiple times since they split in February 2009. That was when Brown was arrested for a brutal assault of Rihanna that left her bruised and bloodied.
The New York Daily News speculated that the kiss points to a renewed romance between Rihanna and Chris Brown. There have already been signs of them getting back together like Rihanna’s interview with Oprah Winfrey last month where she called Chris Brown “the love of her life.”
