Jeremy Renner Gets Down To Business In ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ Trailer [Video]
Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton are set to square off against all sorts of supernatural enemies in writer/director Tommy Wirkola’s Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. The international trailer for the upcoming action flick recently popped up over at Cinema Blend, giving Renner fanatics a chance to see the rising star kick some serious cinematic behind once again. If Renner’s not careful, he could find himself labeled as the next Hollywood action hero.
The film, which follows the adventures of the titular characters years after the ill-fated gingerbread house incident, is presently scheduled for release in North America on January 11, 2013, a month which rarely yields anything remotely interesting. Generally speaking, that particular time of the year is when studios dump movies they’re unsure about. Is Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters simply too imaginative and creative for its own good?
According to The Film Stage, the film was originally scheduled for release last May by Paramount Pictures. However, for one reason or another, the film was pushed into the early part of 2013. Given that Renner enjoyed quite a popular summer, it’s surprising that the studio wouldn’t try to capitalize on his success.
Should Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters crash and burn at the box office, one probably shouldn’t feel too sorry for Jeremy Renner. Not only is he in talks to portray Steve McQueen in an upcoming biopic, the Hurt Locker star is also slated to return for the inevitable Avengers sequel. If all goes accordingly, there’s also a possibility that the actor could find himself with his very own Hawkeye spin-off flick. Add Mission: Impossible 5 to this list and you’ve got an actor with a lot of work piling up on his plate.
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, which also stars Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare, Derek Mears and Thomas Mann, opens in theaters this January. The trailer for the flick has been included below.
