Glenn Beck Discusses A ‘Patriot’ Removing Trump From White House If He Wins Election

Glenn Beck is known for his super-conservative views, and he’s definitely no fan of Donald Trump. Now, Beck is embattled in controversy over a conversation he had with suspense author Brad Thor on the Glenn Beck radio show last Wednesday. While Beck says that the media “misunderstood” the discussion he had with Thor about a “hypothetical,” power-abusing President Trump, not everyone sees it that way.

This is how it went down.

Brad Thor had a “hypothetical” question for Glenn Beck. According to Thor, he was going to suggest something “very bad,” something being asked from Thor’s position as a thriller writer.

The “very bad” hypothetical question? Thor asked Glenn Beck whether he thought someone, some “patriot” specifically, might “remove” Donald Trump from office. To his credit, Brad Thor didn’t specify what precisely he meant by “remove.”

“With the feckless, spineless Congress we have, who will stand in the way of Donald Trump overstepping his constitutional authority as president? If Congress won’t remove him from office, what patriot will step up and do that if, if, he oversteps his mandate as president, his constitution-mandated authority as president, I should say.”

Fox News reports that Thor went on, further expanding on his question to Glenn Beck. He asked how the American people could get Trump out of office if he “oversteps.” Speaking to Beck, Thor added that he doesn’t think that there is a “legal means” available for removing Donald Trump from the White House if he is elected and abuses his presidential power.

“I think it will be a terrible, terrible position the American people will be in to get Trump out of office, because you won’t be able to do it through Congress.”

According to Glenn Beck, he agreed with Brad Thor’s analysis of the situation.

The next day, The Drudge Report ran the headline “GLENN BECK, AUTHOR TALK ‘PATRIOT’ TAKING OUT TRUMP.”

Glenn Beck responded to the Drudge headline on his Facebook page. Beck used the social media platform to hurl insults at Matt Drudge, calling him a “despicable, lying scumbag,” and “a total fraud and an embarrassment.”

According to Glenn Beck, the conversation with Thor didn’t constitute advocacy of a Trump assassination.

“NOBODY stated or implied any harm coming to Trump, that’s not something we joke about.”

Breitbart seemed to disagree, and the news outlet published an article containing the entire transcribed interview between Glenn Beck and Brad Thor. Breitbart took the liberty of highlighting segments that could be construed as a discussion about an assassination attempt.

“…this is serious and this could ring down incredible heat on me because I’m about to suggest something very bad. It is a hypothetical I am going to ask as a thriller writer.”

Social media users seemed to believe that the Glenn Beck/Brad Thor discussion was referring to assassination, too. They hit Twitter to share their anger and disbelief.

Glenn Beck tried to explain away the meaning behind his conversation with Thor in non-violent terms. According to Beck, he and Thor were talking about what options the American public would have should The Donald be elected and become out of control. Glenn Beck added that there is “no way” a Republican Congress would ever impeach the former reality TV star, meaning that “even if it were necessary, patriots have no way to get him out of office.”

Thor took a lot of heat on Twitter, but responded repeatedly by saying it was all “hypothetical” and that he never suggested that Trump be assassinated.

So, what do you think? Did Brad Thor go too far during his “hypothetical” discussion with Glenn Beck? Did Glenn Beck cross a line by agreeing with Thor? Should there be some kind of consequences for alluding to the assassination, even hypothetical assassination, of a presidential hopeful? Even if you’re Glenn Beck?
