Nathan Fillion Reveals Spoilers With Cameo As Wonder Man In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’

Just days ago, the makers of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 revealed that they’d be releasing two of their cast members, but Nathan Fillion has stepped in to cover some of the damage.

Nathan Fillion is currently starring in the hit series "Castle," which is coming up on its 9th season. He made a voice cameo in the first 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' and now he's back for something new. (Photo by Alberto E. Rodriquez/Getty Images)

The Castle star will enter the realm of everyone’s favorite guardians as Simon Williams, who is also known as Wonder Man in the Marvel Universe. Some photos leaked on Imgur have confirmed his involvement in the film.

For those who aren’t immersed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Simon Williams is one of the fictional world’s most famous actors who secretly has powers that enable him to do his own stunts, including super-strength, flight, and superhuman endurance. Williams is also one of the Avengers in the comic books who goes by the name Wonder Man.

The photo shows a blurry snapshot of Fillion posing as Williams on a fake movie poster that hangs on the wall of a building on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The movie poster is for a biopic about Tony Stark that isn’t unlike the Steve Jobs movie poster.

The question is, where does this movie poster fit in with the story line of Guardians of the Galaxy 2? The setting is obviously Earth, as there’s no need for movies about Earth-based scientific geniuses in the world where Quill now resides.

It’s not likely to be a flashback based on the timeline of the story. It’s more likely to be an after credits scene or perhaps a dream sequence.

But new footage from a small town near Atlanta, Georgia, confirms that it’s more likely a trip that Chris Pratt and his crew take to Earth. A resident of Cartersville, Georgia, posted footage of the crew filming a crash landing on the street.

It seems that Peter Quill will finally make it home in the second installment of Guardians of the Galaxy.

This actually isn’t Fillion’s first appearance in the world of Guardian’s of the Galaxy. He was also credited as the voice of the Monstrous Inmate in the first film. For those who don’t remember, that’s the blue inmate who threatens Peter at the beginning of his incarceration before Groot and Rocket step in.

The Castle star has been facing some pretty interesting media lately after his alleged bullying of co-star Stana Katic, but things are going in a different direction for him. Fillion and Katic have been at the center of the Castle cast for eight seasons with the ninth series right around the corner.

It seems that his character will be returning to something a little closer to his roots as an actor. He first made a name for himself as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in the 2002 Joss Whedon series Firefly. The series only aired for one season before it was canceled, but it received a 9.2 rating on IMDB, which was enough votes for the makers to develop a finale film, Serenity, to end the series.

In that film, he played a cowboy-style commander of an intergalactic spaceship of the future called Serenity. He captained a renegade crew that traveled along unknown parts of the galaxy, ending up in all kinds of trouble along the way. His character is a little quirky, comedic, and totally reminiscent of the characters in Guardians of the Galaxy.

It’s not clear what kind of cameo Nathan Fillion will be making in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but whatever it is, he’s sure to fit right in.
