‘Roseanne’ Reunion To Take Place At Comedy Roast

"Roseanne" reunion to take place at Comedy Central roast

A “Roseanne” reunion of sorts is set to take place at the Comedy Central roast of Roseanne Barr, with former castmates from the hit sitcom ready to attend.

The roast, which Comedy Central announced earlier in the summer, has already gotten commitments from former “Roseanne” cast members Sarah Chalke, Michael Fishman and Alicia Goranson, UPI reported. All have said they will be at the Los Angeles event.

Other comedians and entertainers will be at the roast in addition to the makeshift “Roseanne” reunion. Guests announced so far for the event at the Hollywood Palladium include Ellen Barkin, Wayne Brady, and Gilbert Gottfried, the cable network said. Other presenters will include Carrie Fisher, Seth Green, Katey Sagal, Anthony Jeselnik, Jeffrey Ross and Amy Schumer, with “Glee” star Jane Lynch will serve as roast master.

The roast hasn’t been the only recent fodder for fans seeking a “Roseanne” reunion. Earlier this year reports emerged that John Goodman was close to signing on to Roseanne Barr’s NBC comedy pilot, “Downwardly Mobile,” The Huffington Post reported. Goodman and Barr played functionally dysfunctional spouses Dan and Roseanne Connor on the hit show that ran from 1988 to 1997.

Downwardly Mobile” sounds to be in the same vein as “Roseanne,” featuring a middle class family that moves into a mobile home.

The “Roseanne” reunion and the comedy special come at a busy time for Barr. She has announced her intention to run for president in 2012, seeking the Green Party nomination. She also threw her hat into the process for the Peace and Freedom Party’s nomination, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The “Roseanne” reunion will air with the comedy special on Aug. 12.

Used to think the show was kind of funny, but after she said that people who eat at Chick-fil-A deserve to get cancer NO THANKS! I really dislike her now.

  2. Jennifer Parsons

I hated the show the first time it was on, no way I would be interested in the reunion

Roseanne was one of the best shows of all time, especially for kids like me raised in a blue collar family. It was much better than most of the lame sit-coms on today. I can't wait for the roast!

ILOVE the Roseanne show….watch it everyday. The sit com was ahead of it's time and always pushed the envelope while being funny at the same time(with the except of the last season…all those crazy trips with the lottery money…just wasn't funny).

Loved the show , still do.That show really epitomized real middle class life with a loving and dysfunctional family. Can Hope John signs up with Roseanne , they make a great team! If They do it , one less STUPID REALITY SHOW! happy dance!

of course her choice of words was awful but she later apologized and explained she meant eating processed foods is dangerous.

You are fucking LAME Mr. Horton. Hmmm are you related to James?

  14. Dorsey Ross

When someone's a comedian, your supposed to be funny, not making a harsh statement, thats not event funny, but more harsh, as Patricia said.

LOVED the Roseanne series until they hit the lottery. The last two years was miserable to watch, but I was a loyal follower and mustered through the silliness each week. I own every season (except the last two) and watch at least one episode daily for my Roseanne fix of sarcasm. I will definitely watch the Roast!

I agree–the last two seasons they really "jumped the shark", it just wasn't as good as previous seasons.
