‘X-Men Apocalypse’ Official Trailer Released With Lots Of Movie Footage

The X-Men: Apocalypse trailer has been released, and it contains lots of movie footage, with Coldplay’s “Panic” as the score. Check it out.

X-Men: Apocalypse is the sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). The new movie is set in 1983. Apocalypse is played by Oscar Isaac. He’s the guy choking Mystique toward the end of the trailer. He’s also the handsome devil in this photo.

The X-Men: Apocalypse trailer is full of scenes in which Apocalypse is wreaking havoc on the Earth as the first step in accomplishing his goal. He’s an ancient mutant come back to life. He wants to resume leadership of his men who will assist him in “cleansing the earth,” which means bringing the world to literal ashes before building his own, better world. He recruits four horsemen for the job: regulars Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp), as well as a couple of new mutants Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Angel (Ben Hardy).

Our heroes, the X-Men, are the only ones who can save the world from Apocalypse. Professor Xavier (James McAvoy) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) lead the X-Men, who are students at Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters: Jean Grey (Sophie Turner, aka Sansa from Game of Thrones), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), and Quicksilver (Evan Peters). But, as Mystique informs the lads and lasses, they are no longer students — they are X-Men in this battle for the fate of the world as we know it.

Of course, X-Men fans are hitting play, rewind, play, rewind, over and over to pick up anything about the movie that they can. The folks over at USA Today have as well and point out five things we know from the new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer.

The first thing we know from the new X-Men trailer is that Magneto still has it out for us unlucky humans, which is why Apocalypse sees fit to recruit him for his fight to rid the earth of humans and all they have created. In doing so, the stronger, bad guy mutants will be left to rule the world. There’s only one thing standing in his way, or rather four things – the X-Men. Stand aside, Apocalypse. We have a feeling this isn’t going to end the way you want it to.

Numero dos on the list of things we learn about X-Men: Apocalypse from the new trailer is that we get more of Quicksilver! In X-Men: Days of Future Past, we got an introduction, one scene, and then he was gone. But he’s back to help his fellow X-Men battle the evil Apocalypse, and it looks like he has a much bigger role this time around. Thank you, X-Men gods.

Next up on the list of things the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer tells us is that Mystique is taking the reins of leadership in this battle. Jennifer Lawrence has said that this may be her last X-Men movie, and her prominence and place of leadership in X-Men: Apocalypse makes us wonder if this will put her in more danger, thus making her disappearance a bit easier to work into the story.

There are two more things we know about the next chapter of the X-Men saga thanks to the new trailer. One is that we’re treated to younger versions of a couple of our heroes – Cyclops and Jean Grey. And last has to do with the evil villain, Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac. The new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer shows us what the world destroyer used to look like. He didn’t always look the way he does now. He used to have the quite handsome face that belongs to Mr. Isaac. Which leads to a question, why the change?

X-Men: Apocalypse opens in theaters on May 27.
