Drake Teasing ‘Views From The 6’ Official Release Date? Rapper Drops Hint About New Album On Instagram

Drake may have confirmed an April release date for his upcoming Views From The 6 album, but it appears that the Toronto rapper has been dropping some hints about an official release date for the project while promoting Views in his native Toronto.

Yesterday, Drake took to Instagram to share a photo of a new Toronto billboard being erected in honor of his impending fourth studio album, captioning the shot with, “All Star Weekend 2016.”

While some fans speculate that Drake’s new billboard teaser may be indicative of the album’s cover art, sources are suggesting that another one of Drake’s new Toronto-based advertisements for the album may hint at an official release date for Views From The 6.

In addition to the black-and-white billboard dedicated to Drake’s impending album, Toronto locals have been sharing photos of other Views-related advertisements that have begun popping up around the city ahead of the NBA All-Star Game this weekend.

In one photo, taken at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport on Wednesday, a cryptic black-and-white poster can be seen that reads, “Four Plus Two Equals 6,” leading some fans to interpret the message as a hint regarding Views From The 6‘s official release date.

In response to the new adverts, Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport tweeted out a message on Wednesday that reads, “The #6god just landed at @BBishopAirport. Welcome home. #vft6.”

During a new episode of OVO Sound Radio via Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio last month, Drake confirmed a tentative April release date for his new album while also explaining the significance of a 4/16 drop date for the project.

Shortly after debuting “Summer Sixteen” as his first official single off of Views From The 6, Drake revealed to fans that an April 2016 release date for the project would correspond with Toronto’s (416) area code. Given Drake’s mysterious “four plus two equals 6” poster having emerged in Toronto earlier this week, some fans are now speculating that an April 2, 2016, release date for Views may be possible.

According to Urban Islandz, a highly placed source close to Drake has confirmed rumors of an April 2 release date for Drake’s new album.

The source explains to the site, “April 2 is the day that the face of rap music will change and give birth to a new era. The 6 God will speak to the people on that sacred day and the voice of the masses will be heard far and wide.”

With Toronto gearing up for NBA All-Star Weekend festivities, where Drake will also be serving as Canada’s head coach for the Celebrity All-Star Game, it’s no surprise that the “Jumpman” rapper is eager to promote his highly anticipated project while the attention is focused on his native Toronto this weekend.

The news comes just days after Drake’s in-house producer and close friend Noah “40” Shebib recently revealed to B-Real that Drake’s Views From The 6 album is “very, very close” to being finished.

During his appearance on B-Real’s series, “The Smokebox,” Shebib opened up about the recording process for Views while also dropping hints about what type of sound fans can expect from Drake’s fourth studio album.

“We’re getting very, very close and the time will come when Drake’s ready to pull the trigger,” 40 explained of the album’s impending release, Complex reports.

The producer continued, “For us, it’s just a balance of finding that space to make such a project that’s based around our city. And then also coming out here to the West Coast to escape some of the harsh winter and find a good creative space. It has to be a balance of both locations for what it’s supposed to be.”

When do you think of the rumors suggesting an April 2 release date for Views From The 6?
