Drake Teases ‘Views From The 6’ With New Toronto Billboard Ahead Of NBA All-Star Weekend
Drake may have confirmed an April release date for his highly anticipated Views From The 6 album, but it appears that the Toronto-native is already gearing up for the project’s release by covering his hometown in Views-related advertisements.
With Drake having recently secured the No. 6 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for Views‘ lead single, “Summer Sixteen,” it’s not surprising that the rapper has already begun promoting the project in his native Toronto.
On Tuesday, Drake fans took to Instagram and Twitter to share photos of Views-related advertisements that have begun to emerge around the city of Toronto. In one photo, reportedly taken at Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport, a black-and-white advertisement reads, “the #6god has landed,” while another mysteriously adds, “four plus two equals 6,” Complex reports.

Just hours later, Drake took to Instagram to share a photo of another eye-catching advertisement being erected in his hometown. In the photo, a large billboard with the simple message, “VIEWS,” can be seen being constructed in what fans are claiming is Toronto’s Dundas Square.

“All Star Weekend,” Drake captioned the photo, leading some fans to speculate that an announcement regarding Views From The 6 may be on its way during this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game.
Given Drake’s position as Canada’s head coach for Friday’s NBA All-Star Celebrity Game against the USA, who will be coached by Kevin Hart. it’s not surprising that the rapper would choose to debut his advertisements during the height of the attention surrounding NBA All-Star Weekend, People reports.

While it’s unclear whether or not Drake will be debuting new music during this weekend’s festivities, it is worth noting that the “Jumpman” rapper dropped his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late mixtape during All-Star Weekend last year. However, despite speculation suggesting that Drake is planning a surprise release for Views From The 6 during this weekend’s game, Drake previously shut down the claims by confirming a tentative April release date for the project during an episode of OVO Sound Radio in January.

After teasing his hosting position for the Apple Music-based radio program on social media last month, Drake surprised fans with the release of his new single, “Summer Sixteen,” while also confirming that VFT6 would be arriving sometime in April. With Drake having promised that an official release date, track list, and cover art for his album would be verified in the near future, it’s possible that the rapper may confirm an official drop date for Views during Friday’s game.
This isn’t the first time that Drake has used billboard advertisements to tease an upcoming release, Drake previously teased the arrival of his 2011 album, Take Care, with a blue-and-white billboard featuring the album’s release date and OVO’s signature owl logo, Pitchfork reports.

In addition, a mysterious billboard with the message “The 6 God is watching” appeared over Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway back in November, leading Drake to share a photo of the cryptic advertisement on his Instagram account with the caption, “Be home soon.”
