The Star Wars That I Used To Know: Gotye Mash-Up Criticizes George Lucas Tinkering

It’s been more than 30 years since the original Star Wars hit theaters, and since then, the classic movie series has gone through several changes as George Lucas continues to try to “improve” the story. Well, Gotye has had enough. A new version of the extremely popular song has hit the net which asks the question: What happened to the Star Wars that I used to know?

The video appeared on Youtube this weekend and already has close to two million views.

“The Star Wars That I Used To Know” parody criticizes George Lucas for altering several scenes in Star Wars. According to PC Mag,Star Wars has seen a number of changes over the years. Among them are small changes like giving Ewoks the ability to blink and big character development changes like having Greedo shoot first at Han Solo.

Lucas defended making changes to the series earlier this year saying that he is always trying to improve the Star Wars series.

Lucas said:

“Changes are not unusual — I mean, most movies when they release them they make changes. But somehow, when I make the slightest change, everybody thinks it’s the end of the world.”

Do the changes to Star Wars bother you? If they do, enjoy this Goyte parody, “The Star Wars That I Used To Know.”
