Jimmy Fallon and Rashida Jones Parody Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’

Jimmy Fallon is the latest to add to the ever-increasing barrage of “Hotline Bling” parodies. Countless Vine videos have sprung into existence depicting Drake doing a number of things — like playing tennis. This is all thanks to his unusual dance moves found in the ‘Hotline Bling’ video on YouTube.

It was only right that Jimmy Fallon added his own parody to the popular song on The Tonight Show, which is exactly what Complex reports he and Rashida Jones decided to do last night. They didn’t just parody Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” they also did renditions of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” and The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”

“I gotta say, 2015 has been a great year in music,” begins Fallon, “but as much as I’ve loved the songs from this year, there’s nothing I love more than holiday music.”

Enter Rashida Jones.

“Jimmy I was just listening, it’s so funny that you say that because I actually have an idea,” replies Jones.

Fallon inquisitively responds, “Wait, Rashida, are you saying to change the words to popular songs to make them about Thanksgiving, and also about Hannukah and Christmas?”

“Uh-huh,” quips Rashida.

Then begins a very hilarious holiday music mash-up.

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, as everybody knows Thanksgiving is the official first day that Christmas music is finally allowed to play on the airwaves. Fallon and Jones sang a variety of songs, and ended Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” a different way, singing:

“Saturday night and I’m really starved
The Grinch is on, so let’s watch!”

This isn’t the first time that “Hotline Bling” was performed on The Tonight Show. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton performed it nearly a month ago with Fallon during a game called, “Spin the Microphone.”

Jimmy Fallon and Rashida Jones really took “Hotline Bling” to the next level. This was apparent when they grabbed two butterball turkeys while doing one of the more famous Drake dance moves from the music video.

This wasn’t the only song that Fallon and Rashida remixed. Billboard reported that Queen Latifa also made an appearance, coming in to tag along for a remix of Macklemore’s “Downtown.”

In total, they remixed nine songs during this holiday music extravaganza.

It was actually quite the centerpiece, as Eric Nally came riding in on a gigantic sleigh with little bits of fake snow flickering all around him. Then Jimmy Fallon and Rashida Jones took to the audience to finish up the last lines of the parody holiday bit.

Cue “Bad Blood” in your mind. Some of the more memorable lyrics include:

“Cuz now the turkey is all done
The pumpkin pie was awesome
Now it’s time to take naps, cuz
Everybody is mad stuffed”

Spot on Jimmy, spot on.

Jimmy Fallon has really brought his own brand to The Tonight Show. It seems like we’re constantly being fed new videos of him playing games, singing songs, and doing other awesome stuff–like taking Kevin Hart on a roller-coaster.

Recently, however, Fallon has run into some reports that NBC is getting tired of his alleged “drinking problem,” which has accounted for a few of his injuries present on the show in the past.

Whatever your orientation on Jimmy Fallon, he does bring some fun to the show, which makes for great entertainment. Jimmy Fallon and Rashida Jones nailed their “Hotline Bling” parody, and fans can only hope for more great videos in the future.
