FBI Drug Investigation Leads To Dentist With Child Porn Who Spread HIV ‘Intentionally’
In what was supposed to be a standard FBI investigation into drugs, authorities found themselves with mounting evidence that one suspect was doing a lot more than methamphetamine.
Dr. John Wolf, a once-respected and much-lauded dentist in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, became a suspect in what federal authorities refer to as a “standard drug case” in March, 2015, but as the investigation continued, Dr. Wolf’s darker, and far more disturbing, crimes began to surface.
Not only does Dr. John Wolf, a dentist who was once celebrated for his HIV activism and once won a lawsuit against his landlord in which he retained the right to treat HIV positive patients, face drug charges, but he now also faces charges of possessing child pornography, trading methamphetamine for dental services, and hosting wild sex parties at which he would attempt to spread HIV, as the New York Times reports.
“After searching Dr. Wolf’s home and office on Friday morning, federal agents found methamphetamine and a flash drive filled with 246 files, mostly child pornography, according to a memorandum filed by prosecutors. He admitted to possessing child pornography, ‘denied having sex with minors and indicated he was unwilling to discuss his drug use or distribution or whether he had drugged anyone unwillingly during sex,’ according to the memorandum.”
The FBI was tipped off to Dr. Wolf by a meth dealer-turned-informant, who, according to the complaint written by FBI special agent Aaron Spivack, “advised that Wolf had shown him images on Wolf’s cellular phone of infants and toddlers being sexually abused by adults.” These images, according to the informant, included depictions of infants and toddlers being raped by men.
The informant also claimed that Wolf told him he would host sex parties that allowed bestiality, and said that Dr. Wolf “at times punctured holes in condoms in an intentional attempt to spread the HIV virus to his sexual partners,” according to the complaint report.
On Monday, with help from the informant, the FBI set up a sting operation. The informant told Wolf that his roommate was into child pornography, and so Wolf arranged for the three to meet at his office. The roommate, however, was actually an FBI agent, and it was to him that Wolf willingly showed a 35-minute tape of child pornography, and then suggested that the two of them sexually assault children together.
After showing the agent the film, authorities say that Wolf then transferred a total of 23 files containing child porn onto a flash drive, which he gave to the agent, and then admitted to drugging unwilling partners at his sex parties when they wanted to wear condoms. According to the Times, the informant also made recordings of Dr. Wolf admitting to drugging unwilling sex partners, as well as having sex with animals, poking holes in condoms before encounters, and drugging a man with a “slam of K” before sexually assaulting him. The drug referred to is assumed to be ketamine.
If convicted, Dr. Wolf will face nearly 20 years in prison on charges related to drugs and child pornography. The FBI is still looking for victims in this case.
