Maisie Williams Is Set To Star In The Movie Adaptation Of Carrie Ryan’s ‘The Forest of Hands and Teeth’

Game of Thrones alum, Maisie Williams (who plays Arya Stark), has signed on for another series that has a huge fan base. This time she will be starring in the movie adaptation of Carrie Ryan’s novel, The Forest of Hands and Teeth. This dystopian story is set “sometime into the future” where most of the human race has been turned into blood thirsty cannibals and Maisie Williams is set to play the lead role.

According to Variety, who broke the news first, Maisie Williams is still in negotiations over the movie that will be directed by Kate Maberly from a screenplay she has adapted from Ryan’s novel. The movie version of The Forest of Hands and Teeth will be produced by Doug Liman alongside Kate Maberly.

Maberly is just as excited to be stepping into the dystopian world of The Forest of Hands and Teeth as she is to have Maisie Williams on board. “I am so incredibly excited to be stepping into the Forest and collaborating with such a brilliant creative mind as Doug’s,” Maberly said in a statement. “We can’t wait to bring Ryan’s fantastical world to life and are absolutely thrilled to have Maisie on board.”

Maisie Williams will star in the movie adaptation of Carrie Ryan's The Forest of Hands and Teeth

According to GoodReads, the synopsis for the New York Times best-selling novel The Forest of Hands And Teeth in which Maisie Williams is set to star in is as follows.

“In Mary’s world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. But, slowly, Mary’s truths are failing her. She’s learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future—between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded by so much death?”

Maisie Williams will play the role of Mary, and it the first movie is successful, there is the potential for further books in the Forest of Hands and Teeth to be adapted. With zombies and dystopia being firm favorites in both books and on the screen at the moment, it is unlikely Maisie Williams has anything to worry about with The Forest of Hands and Teeth being anything but a success.

As yet, there is no information on a filming schedule or release date announcement, so we will keep you informed on Maisie Williams latest endeavor.
