Adam Lambert sings A Change is Gonna Come: American Idol Finale (video)

If the Adam Lambert Mad World performance was understated on tonight’s American Idol finale, Adam’s second song was the dead opposite.

Singing the “producers choice” of A Change is Gonna Come, Adam showed off his impeccable vocal ability, complete with lots of pitch perfect high notes.

And the judges loved it. Randy said to Adam that “You can sing your face off that was unbelievable.” Kara went for “a great combination of high notes and emotion…using both sided of yourself.” Paula added “The best that I’ve heard.. I know you will be iconic!” The hardest, but most important critic to win over was Simon Cowell, and in that regard, Adam won: “All I can say is that you’re 100 percent back in the game.”

    I seriously am Happy I don't live in American if he wins lol him screeching on the radio all the time lol, if he didnt scream he would be a fantastic singer.

    Thanks for putting this on. He really really is a fantastic singer, a wonderful performer, so talented, truly. I hope he wins, if not. . .it doesn't really matter. I'm waiting for his music. and now, I'm playing that video again.

    How “convenient” that Simon Fuller just happened to choose “A Change is Gonna Come”?

    Is it a coincidence that Adam has already sang this song on stage? I'm sure AI knew that Adam was very familiar with the song. He did it back in 2004 in a Glam Rock show. All he needed to do was tone it down. I think both Adam & Kris are very talented, but that was very a unfair & sneaky thing to do. I like to chose who I think is the best & don't like being manipulated. I have nothing against Adam, but shame on AI!

    This is the best singer I've have ever heard at such a young age. Such a control over his voice. Adam, you're a top class act and only people who are too superficial and shortminded did not vote for you. I'm belgian and I can only say, YOU ARE THE ONLY TRUE WINNER of this competition. Whatever, you will make it and we will see how far the others will get….

    What exactly do you call sneaky? that he did the song already in 2004? So what!! It is not about if he already did the song earlier, it is about how he can bring it on a stage. He has the best voice ever. And he will succeed in whatever style he will sing in the future. He will be the one making it. And after that, you talk to me again….
