‘Fear The Walking Dead’: How Long Will Tobias Survive The Zombie Apocalypse?

While it is only early days for AMC’s newest zombie series, Fear The Walking Dead, there is already a standout character thanks to an early teaser video. Lincoln A. Castellanos plays Tobias, a minor character who foreshadows an apocalypse before the main characters do. But just how long will Tobias survive?

In the original teaser video, Lincoln A. Castellanos’ character, Tobias, warns school counselor Madison Clark (played by Kim Dickens) about a virus that has been found in five states already and implores her that the government is covering up a huge epidemic. While Madison tells Tobias to stay off the internet and away from conspiracy theorists, it turns out — as the audience already knew — he was right, and by the close of episode 1 of Fear The Walking Dead, Madison and her family start to believe that the end times are imminent.

But for Castellanos, scoring the role of Tobias on Fear The Walking Dead was “a dream come true” for the Walking Dead fan. “I love the whole zombie genre,” he recently told the Desert Sun. While he was happy to play a mere walker on AMC’s spin-off program, when he headed into the audition, he was determined to convince AMC he could be Tobias.

“It’s like a dream come true. It really is, not only because I get to be on a zombie show. … I get to play a character who is really complex and dealing with some truthful, real problems that I think a lot of other high schoolers and other young kids will connect to in Tobias.”

The last time we saw Tobias in Fear The Walking Dead, he was giving the “I told you so” look of the century to Madison as his bus departed from school after it was closed early due to a lack of healthy students and concerns over a nearby incident that went viral on the internet. While there is no word on just how long Tobias will survive the zombie apocalypse in Fear The Walking Dead other than IMDb indicating he is in two episodes, some fans are hoping Tobias pops up further on down the track. After all, many thought Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) was dead in The Walking Dead until he turned up alive and minus a hand under the wing of The Governor (David Morrissey). Morgan (Lennie James) is another character that was seen very early on in The Walking Dead and then only made brief appearances throughout the seasons until he joined the cast in Alexandria at the end of season 5. Could Tobias also turn up again down the track in Fear The Walking Dead?

Episode 2 of Fear The Walking Dead airs this Sunday on AMC.
