‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6: Will Two Characters Return From The Dead?

With HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 6 still a long way off, there has been much speculation about who will return and who is really, truly dead. This time it is Maisie Williams’ (who plays Arya Stark) turn to muddy the waters in relation to the character who reportedly died at the end of the Season 5 finale. Added into the confusing mess is the fact another “presumed dead” character has reportedly been spotted in Belfast where the rest of the Game of Thrones crew is currently filming Season 6.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers. If you have not watched up — and including — the Season 5 finale of Game of Thrones, please proceed with caution.

Firstly, let’s get to what Maisie Williams had to say to Vanity Fair about whether her half brother, Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), was really dead or not in Game of Thrones.

“That’s what [Game of Thrones] does. And if you haven’t learned that by now, well then I can’t help you. We saw [Jon Snow] get stabbed a lot in the chest, like, I think that’s pretty clear. If it makes you feel better, then, yes there’s hope but… there’s no hope.”

While other cast members, including the likes of Emilia Clarke, have given Jon Snow more of a 50/50 chance in relation to whether he survived the brutal stabbing in the Season 5 finale, Maisie is pretty clear she thinks Jon Snow is dead. However, even as she was saying this, another sighting of Kit Harrington in Belfast has emerged. Either Jon Snow is alive in Season 6 of Game of Thrones, or he is really missing his cast mates as the length of his stay in Belfast increases. This time, a photo has popped up on the Instagram account of Marlon “Swoosh” Wallen. As Vanity Fair points out, Swoosh is “the founder of the U.K. dance troupe Flawless and former Britain’s Got Talent contestant.” He is also currently in Belfast teaching kids to dance. As can be noticed in the photo, Kit Harrington still has his flowing Jon Snow locks.

On top of the persistent rumors that Jon Snow will survive in Season 6 of Game of Thrones, another previously thought dead character might also be making a resurrection in Season 6 if the sightings of Rory McCann who plays The Hound are anything to go by. Watchers on the Wall has reported that Rory McCann has been spotted frequenting a hotel also favored by the cast of Game of Thrones. Season 5 saw The Hound left by Arya Stark, presumed mortally wounded. However, there is a fan theory that sees The Hound saved from death in order for him to battle to the death with his brother, Gregor Clegane (also known as The Mountain), so there is the possibility fans have not seen the end of The Hound just yet. Another theory is that The Hound is saved by a book character called Meribald only to become a gravedigger at a monastery.

While all this speculation is exciting fans, only the return of Game of Thrones next year will help sort out the rumors from thruth.

Game of Thrones returns for Season 6 on HBO in 2016.
