Tracy Morgan Marries Long-Time Fiancée — Comic’s 14-Month Recovery Dedicated To Wedding

The past 14 months have been tough for Tracy Morgan. But life is starting to get better, and after a long and hard-fought recovery from a car accident that nearly took his life, the comic has gotten married.

Tracy and his long-time fiancée, (and mother of his 2-year-old daughter, Maven) Megan Wollover, were married Sunday night in a small ceremony. Only close friends and family attended, People reported.

A little over a year ago, Morgan was nearly killed in a collision with a Wal-Mart semi truck, CBS News added. The accident took the life of a dear friend and fellow comic, James McNair, and Tracy was severely injured.

Among his injures: a broken leg, femur, nose, ribs, and a traumatic brain injury, Us Magazine added. In the months afterward, Morgan had to learn how to walk, sit, and stand again, a frustrating obstacle since the comedian admitted that immediately following his accident he wanted to marry Megan.

But marrying her became Tracy’s goal as he struggled through months of therapy.

“I don’t want to walk my wife down the aisle with a cane or in a wheelchair. So I had to go hard with the therapy.”

According to reports, he met that goal — he didn’t need to use a cane during the ceremony.

It was a milestone that Tracy and his new wife were able to enjoy together. His long-time fiancée remained by his side following the accident and during his recovery, and the new Mrs. Morgan said the experience has strengthened their relationship.

“We have been through so much and our love is stronger for it … After almost losing Tracy last year, I am so grateful to finally be married to the love of my life.”

The public got its first glimpse into his struggles in June, when after a months out of the spotlight, Morgan appeared on the Today Show to talk about the accident, the death of his friend, and the hard months of recovery, as the Inquisitr previously reported.

Since then, life seems to have slowly returned to normal. Morgan settled with Wal-Mart, which took full responsibility for the actions of driver Kevin Roper, who was driving 20 mph over the speed limit and hadn’t slept in 24 hours when he crashed into Morgan’s limo. They also settled with McNair’s family, and Tracy has expressed public gratitude toward the company.

He’ll also be returning to comedy, something he looked forward to in June. It has been announced that Tracy will host Saturday Night Live in October, the Washington Post reported.

This is Morgan’s second marriage. The 46-year-old comedian was married to Sabina Morgan for 23 years; they have three grown children together. They divorced in 2009, partially due to Tracy’s problems with alcohol.
