‘Cougar Town’s’ Busy Philipps Rips On ABC

Busy Philipps is tired of feeling like the ugly step child to ABC, the network that Cougar Town has called home for its run.

It’s been a long run for the Courteney Cox helm-ed comedy Cougar Town, with ratings dipping lower every week due to the little to no promotion of the series, which has seen numerous schedule mix ups in its four year run.

Now that it looks like the show is on the bubble of being cancelled yet again, actress Busy Philipps has broken her silence, telling the associated press that she’s tired of ABC not giving the show the proper attention it deserves stating, “It has not been fun to feel like the ugly stepsister of the network.”

Dissatisfied by how Cougar Town is being treated Philipps continued to criticize ABC’s handling of the promotion of the show, “They moved us around, they took us off the air for months,” she continued. “I do feel a little disappointed in how they’ve treated the show.”

Now it looks like the producers of Cougar Town have been in discussions to strike up a deal with TBS that would see the show launching a two-season pickup with 15 episodes each. This move makes complete sense as quirky comedies such as My Boys has seen a successful run on the network.

“If TBS is willing to launch the show in a real great way and we would actually have like billboards and commercials, that would be really cool.” Philipps, who’s otherwise known as being featured on the later seasons of Dawson’s Creek, can’t wait for the switch, “I feel like if it really happens it’s kind of going to be like best case scenario for all of us.”

Do you agree that Cougar Town belongs on TBS instead of ABC?
