‘Reba’ Costar: McEntire ‘Doing Great,’ According To Melissa Peterman

Reba co-star Melissa Peterman says McEntire is “great” after the 60-year-old country legend split from hubby Narvel Blackstock. While Reba McEntire’s divorce is one of many breakups in the entertainment industry, hers is noteworthy for having come after 26 years.

Most Hollywood marriages don’t last half as long, and there is nothing known about why Reba and Narvel have gone their separate ways.

Not known to take the Taylor Swift route of singing about her past breakups, McEntire hasn’t had any sad songs about her recently-failed marriage. She actually appears to be relatively upbeat about the situation. The split wasn’t sudden either, having been foreshadowed by their separation of several months.

Reba and Narvel have one son in common, race car driver Shelby. It is equally unknown how he’s taking the news of his parents splitting up. It may be that he’d seen it coming for a while, but it was allegedly inevitable.

Much like Reba’s costar, who says McEntire is “doing great,” Kelly Clarkson had been trying to keep the two together, according to Us Magazine.

“They’ve been living apart for two years. Kelly urged them not to split and she’s the reason they didn’t split earlier. She was really fighting for them to make it work and stay together.”

Kelly Clarkson is related to the pair having married Narvel Blackstock’s son, Brandon, in 2013, when McEntire and Blackstock’s marital problems had allegedly begun.

Melissa Peterman had been Reba’s co-star on the sitcom named after the country legend, and had most likely seen the marriage beginning to have its problems over the six seasons the show was on TV.

McEntire and Blackstock have been on friendly terms, though, according to a statement made on the day the divorce was announced.

“Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other. They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so.”

The news of their split hasn’t been too devastating, according to the Reba costar. McEntire is still “doing great. I love her and I wish her all my love, and that’s all I can say right now.”

The official statement of their divorce also added that McEntire and Blackstock are asking for “privacy during this time.”
