Zayn Malik, Perrie Edwards Split: Perrie ‘Devastated’ Over Break Up

As the Inquisitr reported, Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards split, and as the news broke, we’re only just now learning what went into this split. Zayn and Perrie have been going through some growing pains for a while.

Many speculated that Zayn left One Direction so his relationship with Perrie would stay on solid ground. Although he denied this being true, it looks like he and Perrie couldn’t keep it together.

That said, we’re finding out that it wasn’t Perrie’s idea to break off the engagement. According to People, the ex One Direction singer has left Perrie “devastated.” According to a source, Malik reached out to Edwards to break up with her about two weeks ago.

According to the source, she put her break up on the back burner while promoting with Little Mix. “She’s been putting on a brave face, as Little Mix have had promotion to do, but she’s obviously devastated.”

That said, Edwards isn’t alone in her sorrow. Her bandmates have been supporting her, as well.

“Perrie’s being supported by her bandmates, but she’s really in pieces about this.”

The pair became engaged in August of 2013 and have been together for quite some time, despite swirling rumors of their split, which had been constant after they announced their engagement.

In addition to dealing with rumors about his relationship ending, Zayn also had to deal with rumors of an alcohol problem. According to Radar Online, Malik was forced to leave the band after he failed to sober himself up, instead of leaving on his own, which is what Malik has been saying since he departed from One Direction.

At the time, a source said, “Zayn’s alcohol and drug use became a huge problem. He chose not to get clean and that is when they parted ways. They gave him every opportunity to clean up his act, but he just couldn’t do it.”

As for his relationship with Perrie, Zayn might have strayed from her. Zayn was photographed while on tour with One Direction holding hands with a girl that wasn’t Perrie while in Thailand. Although Zayn denied these allegations, it was shortly after the picture surfaced that Zayn decided to leave the band.

Some are even saying that Malik just wants to focus on his solo career instead of a relationship. News broke a few days ago that Malik signed a solo recording contract with RCA.

After the news, Zayn wrote in a series of tweets that 1D fans said were obvious hits against his ex-bandmates.

“I guess I never explained why I left. It was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who I really am! #RealMusic”
