Kermit The Frog And Miss Piggy Have Broken Up — Yes, Seriously
One of the world’s most beloved celebrity couples has split up. No, not Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale. Not even Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.
Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog have officially announced their break-up via their personal social media platforms.
Miss Piggy posted the following statement on her Facebook page, declaring that she and Kermit the Frog would no longer be continuing their romantic relationship.
“After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, Kermit the Frog and moi have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship. We will continue to work together on television (“The Muppets”/Tuesdays 8pm this fall on ABC) and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter … unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding.”
Kermit posted the same message on his own Facebook page.
If you haven’t guessed by now, the Muppet breakup seems to be a comedic publicity stunt to promote the mockumentary The Muppets, which premieres on Tuesday, September 22, on ABC.
The characters Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog are famous for their difficult relationship, having highly-contrasting personality types. But their mismatched love is one of the staples of the Muppets storyline, so it will be interesting for fans to see if the two get back together during The Muppets.
According to TV Line,Kermit the Frog spoke at the Television Critics Association summer press tour about his split with Miss Piggy, revealing that the two have drifted apart during their professional careers.
“It’s a day-by-day, moment-by-moment process,” Kermit revealed. “Piggy and I have gone our separate ways romantically. It can be tough to work with your ex. There will be an official statement released in the press. I don’t want to betray anything.”

Miss Piggy also commented on her break-up with Kermit, providing a far less humble explanation.
“Dating moi is like flying close to the sun,” Missy Piggy said. “It was inevitable that Kermit would drop down to the ground while I stayed in the heavens.”
