Louis Falcone: Video Shows Gay Man Dragged From Home And Beaten By NYPD Officers Shouting Gay Slurs

Louis Falcone said he was dragged from his Staten Island home by NYPD officers and beaten while they shouted gay slurs, and now the 31-year-old is planning on taking the police to court.

Falcone is suing the NYPD over an incident that happened last month at the house he shares with his 66-year-old mother. Neighbors had called police after a loud argument between Falcone and his brother, who Falcone said was “obnoxiously drunk” and left before police arrived.

Even though the situation had resolved on its own, Louis Falcone claims that police showed up an hour later and were immediately belligerent.

“As I’m talking to them through the screen door, they’re saying to come outside,” Falcone told the New York Daily News. “I said, ‘For what?'”

Falcone said officers threatened to kill his barking dog, and then dragged him out of his home, purposely stepping on his foot that had just undergone surgery and had a boot on it.

In video shot by a neighbor, police can then be seen pulling Falcone from his home and beating him. Falcone, who is openly gay, said police also used gay slurs during the beating.

“They threw me against the concrete in front of my house. My first reaction was to try to get up a little bit,” Falcone explained. “While I was on the ground, I had mud and blood in my mouth. One [of the cops] said, ‘Don’t let it get on you, he probably has AIDS, the f****t.’ ”

The lawsuit comes as the NYPD is under increasing pressure for what critics say are heavy-handed tactics. The department just paid a $5.9 million settlement to the family of Eric Garner, who was killed during a scuffle with police last year when an officer put him in a headlock and did not let go despite Garner’s pleas that he could not breathe.

“Following a judicious review of the claim and facts of this case, my office was able to reach a settlement with the estate of Eric Garner that is in the best interests of all parties,” New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer said in a statement. “I believe that we have reached an agreement that acknowledges the tragic nature of Mr. Garner’s death while balancing my office’s fiscal responsibility to the City.”

Louis Falcone is claiming that the NYPD violated his civil rights and left him with a number of injuries, including a broken nose.
