Powerball Winning Numbers July 4: $80 Million Independence Day Jackpot Up For Grabs

Do you have the winning Powerball numbers for the July 4 drawing? An $80 million jackpot is up for grabs on Independence Day — if someone matches all six numbers, they will become an instant millionaire on our nation’s birthday.

Find out if your ticket is the big winner at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday night. Watch the Powerball drawing live online on WRAL, or on one of these TV stations.

UPDATE: The winning Powerball numbers for July 4 are: 3, 6, 14, 18, 24, PB 21

There hasn’t been a winner since one lucky ticket holder matched all six numbers in the June 20 drawing. According to the official Powerball website, Orencia Barzey of Lauderhill, Florida, won the $80 million jackpot and took home a lump-sum payment of $49,566,294.92 after taxes. Barzey purchased a Quick Pick ticket at the Best Value Food Store in Plantation, and it ended up being a life-changing $2 investment.

“I was very shocked when I checked the Lottery’s website and the numbers on my ticket matched what was on the screen. I don’t plan on changing much about my lifestyle, but I do plan on helping my family with my winnings.”

According to the Sun Sentinel, the recent win in Florida is the 10th time a winning jackpot ticket has been sold in Florida.

Although there hasn’t been a jackpot winner since June 20, there have been millions of non-jackpot prize winners. Non-jackpot prizes range from $4 (just the Powerball) to $1 million (all five numbers, no Powerball). Tickets cost $2 each, but players can increase the value of their non-jackpot prize as much as five times by paying an extra $1 for the Powerplay feature.

If there is a winner tonight, there is the option of taking a lump sum payment, or a 30-year annuity. The winner would take home $42.6 million before taxes, or a yearly payment of $2.3 million before federal and state taxes are deducted.

While the jackpot is subject to federal tax (except in Puerto Rico), not every state taxes lottery winnings. If you live in California, Delaware, Florida, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, or Wyoming, you will not pay tax on your windfall. Residents of Puerto Rico are subject to a special tax that ranges between five and 20 percent of the jackpot.

If you win the July 4 Powerball jackpot, consider yourself extremely lucky. The odds are 175.2 million to 1 that you will match all six winning numbers.
