Kanye West Gets A Dose Of His Own Medicine During Glastonbury Performance [Video]

Kanye West, infamous for his ego and penchant to interrupt others on stage in the name of Beyonce, got a dose of his own medicine during his Glastonbury performance in England on Saturday.

British comedian Lee Nelson managed to get on stage next to the rapper and started “rapping” with West before Kanye called for security guards to remove the comedian. Nelson wore a T-shirt with “Lee-zus” written across the front, apparently mocking the title of West’s 2013 album, Yeezus. The stage crash happened during Kanye’s performance of “Black Skinhead,” and according to NME, West restarted the song after Nelson was removed from the stage.

After his ejection from the stage, Lee Nelson had this to say on Twitter.

By signing a petition before the Glastonbury festival began, over 134,000 people made it clear they weren’t happy with the choice of Kanye West to replace the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl, frontman for the Foo Fighters, recently broke his leg and had to cancel their performance. The petition signers demanded Kanye’s set be called off because he isn’t a rock artist. As the Inquisitr previously reported, people were so angry with West headlining the festival that Glastonbury’s co-organizer, Emily Eavis, received death threats and other forms of abuse.

While this is his first time being crashed on stage, Kanye West is no stranger to stage interruptions. In 2009, West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Awards when she won for Best Female Video. He said the award should have gone to Beyonce. Earlier this year, when Beck won Album of the Year at the Grammys, Kanye interrupted the artist, again declaring the award should have gone to Beyonce and sparking speculation he has some sort of hangup concerning the singer. Both Swift and Beck gracefully handled Kanye’s stunts.

Kanye knows he isn’t popular with everyone. In a speech to Los Angeles Trade School graduates, West said, “[U]sually when you’re the absolute best, you get hated on the most. Even for me, as a successful musician, in order to make the transition it was really all but impossible. People always try to box you in to what they know you best for.”

There is no doubt West is a very successful musician; however, much of the “hate” that he gets stems from his lack of respect for his fellow musicians. Kanye has the right to his opinions, but there is a time and a place to express them — hijacking the stage during acceptance speeches is both an inappropriate time and place, so perhaps it was time his time on stage was crashed.

What do you think of Lee Nelson crashing Kanye’s performance? Did Kanye West receive a dose of karma?
