Denise Richards, Ex Charlie Trade Slams On Twitter — Is Such Public Bickering Appropriate?
As anyone with an ex can attest, post break-up relationships can get a bit hairy and contentious, especially when kids are involved. Celebrities aren’t immune from this and, to our amusement, tend to wage their battles in the public eye. Take Denise Richards: After braving some bizarre Twitter insults from ex Charlie Sheen, she’s slammed him back.
But is social media really the place for bitter exes to bicker? Trading barbs online seems the “normal people” equivalent of having a screaming match in the supermarket.
For a little background, Sheen spent Father’s Day typing a strange anti-Denise rant on Twitter, in which he called Richards a “heretic washed up piglet shame pile,” a “shake down piece of s**t doosh phace & worse mom alive,” and a “leaky and malaria riddle puddle of s**t stink decay,” the Daily Mail and People reported. And for good measure, he slammed her acting chops.
Her initial reaction was a chipper greeting, wishing the father of her children a “Happy Dad’s Day” and a fabulous trip to Mexico. That didn’t last — eventually, Richards slammed her ex through social media when his rep came to his defense.
That rep, Jeff Ballard, noted that his client “was upset and chose to express his displeasure through his Twitter rant … Charlie doesn’t live in Regretville. He doesn’t make excuses, and when he voices his displeasure he’s honest.”
Denise slammed back, also on Twitter.

Which, admittedly, is rather mild compared to the accusation that she’s a “piglet shame pile,” whatever that is.
Nonetheless, some details have emerged about what inspired this verbal joust on social media in the first place, and they’ve come from Charlie’s side. Evidently, he invited Richards and their daughters — Sam, 11, and Lola, 10 — to spend the holiday with him in Mexico. She said no, yet people close to her say this account isn’t the whole truth.
“Charlie hasn’t seen his daughters in about two months. And he had no plans to be in town for Father’s Day. There was no invite for Denise or the kids for them to join him in Mexico.”
The he-said, she-said continues. According to E! Online, Denise has contended that he “didn’t know it was Father’s Day until last Sunday,” and that the trip was last minute. But he claims that the trip was on the books for three weeks, “but for whatever reason Denise chose not to go,” his rep added, and slammed her as a liar.
Hopefully, the back and forth is over. Ballard has chosen not to comment back since Richards’ insult. Meanwhile, a source pointed out that even though Richards joined in the bickering, she is “doing her best to take the high road.”
“Her number one concern is her children. She knows that they are at the age where they could become aware of anything being said or written about them or their family, and she’s trying to protect them.”
