Carly Rae Jepsen Tops UK Singles Chart With ‘Call Me Maybe’ [Video]

Carly Rae Jepsen has shot to the top of the UK singles chart with her song “Call Me Maybe.”

The BBC reports that Jepsen’s song got a big boost from a viral video featuring Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. The song, which has sold more than 100,000 copies, has now been number one on the charts in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and according to the Daily Mail, is the fastest selling single in the UK this year.

Jepsen, who finished third on the Canadian version of “American Idol,” was signed by Justin Bieber earlier this year.

Bieber’s manager Scott Braun said:

“He’s never jumped out and promoted an artist like this before. He sends me different YouTube videos of unsigned artists that he’d like to work with, but never someone who already had a song out and is on the radio.”

Bieber gave the singer another bump when he created a video of himself, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Tisdale dancing to Jepsen’s song. Here’s the viral video (now with more than 31 million views) that helped Jepsen top the UK charts.

Carly Rae Jepsen said:

“‘It’s hard to believe at the moment. It’s definitely a surreal life that I’m in right now, but I’m enjoying every second of it. It’s pretty crazy…”

Here’s the official video for “Call Me Maybe.”
