Jill Duggar Celebrates First Mother’s Day With Baby Israel’s Dedication Service

Jill Duggar had a very special Mother’s Day. Not only was it her first, she also got to spend the day attending a special church service for baby Israel’s dedication where they presented him to the congregation.

The proud parents shared a snapshot of the service on Instagram.

“At Israel’s dedication this morning we were challenged to raise him to love Jesus,” Jill captioned the photo, which shows Derick holding Israel next to several other groups of parents and babies. “What a special Mother’s Day! I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John 1:4 #babydedication #MothersDay,” she added.

After the touching service, Duggar and Dillard took the opportunity to pay tribute to their own mothers on their family blog, The Dillards, Derick and Jill.

“Happy Mother’s Day momma! I’m so grateful to God for you as my mother, and you are just a Godly example of what a mother should be like and I hope to be like you,” Jill said in a video message, while holding little Israel in her arms. “I’m really excited to be a mother this Mother’s Day, and your just a great role model and a model of Christ really to all of us and exemplifying your servant spirit and your love for God and for others. You always put others before yourself. I love you a lot!”

“This year my mom is celebrating not only Mother’s Day, but also her first Mother’s Day as a grandmother. My mom’s story of battle and triumph over cancer is nothing short of a miracle, performed by the one true God, our Lord Jesus Christ, through many medical personnel to whom I am eternally grateful,” Derick wrote about his mother Cathy Dillard, who was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkins lymphoma last year.

“I also want to say THANK YOU to all those who have been praying and are still praying for my mom,” he added, alongside a photo of his mom holding her first grandchild. “Next to my wife, my mom is the most special woman in the world to me. I am grateful for a mom who gave her children the greatest thing a mom can give, the Word of God. Growing up, she was my best example of what a Godly woman looks like.”

Jill’s younger sister Jessa Duggar is due to have her first child on November 1, her one year wedding anniversary with her husband Ben Seewald, and will be celebrating her first Mother’s Day next year.
