Crosshairs Stickers Placed On Missouri Lawmakers Doors

Last year congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head after a controversial ad by Sarah Palin showed a rifles crosshairs painted over her district, now lawmakers in Missouri are facing a similar tactic after they returned to their offices on Thursday morning and found crosshairs stickers posted on their office doors.

According to reports five Democratic Missouri state senators and one Republican member of the state House found the stickers on their doors. In some cases the stickers were removed only to be replaced a second time with larger stickers.

Senator Jolie Justus says of the incident:

“We don’t have any explanation,” and “Many of us when we came back to our office this afternoon had gun targets on our nameplates. A few of the senators removed them, only to have them replaced by larger stickers later.”

Security measures at the state Capitol are fairly lax, in fact there are no metal detectors in the building, however following the unknown threat security has been beefed up over the short term while the crosshairs are investigated by state officials.

While it’s still not clear why the crosshairs were placed on Missouri lawmakers doors those individuals who were targeted were considering a measure this week that would block the state’s implementation of President Obama’s health care reform act.

Are you surprised to learn that the Missouri Capitol build has no effective security measures to prevent this time of act from occurring?
