Iraq to Blackwater: So Long, Farewell, Alveterzane, Goodbye

blackwater

Iraq has announced that it will deny a license to controversial private army Blackwater Worldwide, preventing the company from providing protection to US interests in the country.

The Iraqi Government said that the decision was due to improper conduct and excessive use of force, in particular the 2007 killings of 17 Iraqi civilians by the company.

Blackwater has a long reputation for aggressiveness and using excessive force in protecting American officials. The company is regarded as the one of, if not the largest private army in the world.

It’s not clear yet when Blackwater will be thrown out of the country. The State Department said it was studying in implications.

  2. I had the same reaction. It's like when someone on a forum types “WALLA!” when they're announcing something.
