A Prince Charles Biography Is In The Works

A top secret Prince Charles biography is happening. According to Publishers Weekly, Time magazine editor at large Catherine Mayer was hired a while back to compile a year of research on Prince Charles, and was given access to the man himself to write a full fledged biography.

Although we don’t know many details about the Prince Charles bio, we do know that it will be called Born to Be King: Prince Charles on Planet Windsor and will have a release in February 2015.

To compile research, Mayer spoke to Prince Charles’ friends, including famous faces such as actress and writer Emma Thompson. The biography is said to reveal Prince Charles “in all his complexity.” As it is, we know the worst kept secret is his temper.

That said, this will offer new sides and deeper insight to Prince Charles. According to Publishers Weekly, we’ll get “fresh and fascinating insights into the first marriage that did so much to define him.” The most surprising part of it all is that his marriage to Camilla will be inspected and analyzed.

The usually private Prince Charles opened up during a visit to Dumfries House. During the visit, he jokes that his legacy as king will be short lived.

“Impatient? Me? What a thing to suggest! Yes of course I am. I’ll run out of time soon. I shall have snuffed it if I’m not careful.”

Previous biographer Penny Junor noted of his impatience. “He is impatient, but when he becomes king, his activities and all the projects he most enjoys where he can make a difference, will be seriously curtailed. He has spent an awful lot of his life searching for a role, but I think he does now feel fulfilled pursuing his various interests.”

As for his marriage with Camilla Bowles, it’s not a secret that their marriage didn’t start on a great note. According to biography Jonathan Dimbleby, Charles had an affair with Camilla while he was married to Diana, which only added to Charles’ marital problems with Diana in 1992. Even so, it took the Queen six years after Princess Diana’s death to acknowledge Prince Charles’ relationship with Camilla. With all of that family drama, we can only wonder what Mayer will cook up.
