Weekend at Bernies? Two Guys Take Dead Friend Out For a Night on the Town

As funny as Weekend at Bernies was, it was hardly a believable movie. Two guys slap a pair of sunglasses on their dead friend and no one can tell that he isn’t breathing…. that would never work. But that didn’t stop two men in Denver from trying to pull off a very similar ruse.

Robert Young and Mark Rubinson allegedly put their dead friend Jeffrey Jarrett into their car and then went bar hopping around Denver. CBS reports that Young and Rubinson eventually dropped Jarrett back off at his house, then took $400 from his account and went to a strip club.

Rubinson and Young face charges of abusing a corpse, identity theft and criminal impersonation.

CBS reports that Jarrett had been dead for more than a month before his last night on the town. Jarrett was living with Young at the time of his death, but when Young found his friend dead in his apartment last month, he never reported the death.

A family member of Jarrett’s said:

“I’m horrified, I’m absolutely, I can’t even put in to words, I can’t imagine anybody thinking that maybe their friend is in trouble and not calling 911.”

After some food, more booze, and a couple of lap dances, Young and Rubinson flagged down a police officer and told them about the dead body. Police are still investigation the cause of Jarrett’s death.

Do you think Young and Rubinson are responsible for Jarrett’s death? Why else would they fail to report it to police? Do you think they were mourning in possibly the most idiotic way possible? Or were their intentions more malicious?
