Princess Diana’s Grave Neglected: Brother Earl Spencer Accused Of Ignoring State Of Diana’s Resting Place

Earl Spencer, the brother of Princess Diana, is accused of neglecting her grave site at the family’s ancestral home of Althorp in Northamptonshire. In a report out by The Independent, the former chef to the Princess of Wales and Queen Elizabeth — Darren McGrady, — claims Diana’s brother has allowed the lake around her memorial to grow with algae. McGrady has posted a number of images on Twitter complaining about the Earl ignoring the state of her burial site.

Images of the small lake surrounding the princess’ burial site on a small island, are posted to Twitter with the former royal chef’s comments about the conditions of vegetation there:

Princess Diana is believed by many to be nothing more than a money-maker in death for her brother. For years since her death in 1997, visitors from around the world have paid to visit her ancestral home two months of the year. He’s been accused of putting on a show to the entire world that he really loved his royal sister, but the two reportedly had major rifts between them.

“Sad to see Earl Spencer @AlthorpEstate has neglected Diana’s resting place,” McGrady posted on Twitter.

In another tweet, the chef continues:”PLEASE tidy up the vegetation on the island… If I cared for Princess Diana in life as you are doing in death I would have been fired.”

As the Twitter images show, algae is floating on the pond and moss can be seen on the Princess Diana memorial statue.

A spokesperson for Althorp explains that algae is an “unsightly problem for lakes in the summer months.”

Adding:

“Althorp employs contractors to deal with what is a highly invasive and fast growing weed on a regular basis and the Althorp gardeners also tackle it as part of their summer program.

“The exceptional temperatures of this summer have made the task of keeping it entirely under control extremely difficult.”

Darren McGrady worked as a chef at Buckingham Palace for 11 years until Princess Diana’s divorce from Prince Charles, then he was hired as her chef at Kensington Palace. He’s also a writer of books about favorite recipes that the royal family indulged in.

Daily Mail reports that Queen Elizabeth didn’t want Diana’s body brought to any palace after it returned from Paris. She refused to cut her trip short at Balmoral or lower the flag at Buckingham Palace in the days following her tragic death. Prime Minister Tony Blair allegedly had to intervene. The palace and Diana’s mother denied any issues were at play, however.

Earl Spencer reportedly wanted Princess Diana’s burial site to be at Althorp to avoid the public attention it would cause if she was buried at the family’s crypt. Some even allege Diana isn’t buried at Althorp, but at a secret location.
