Socialmedian acquired by Xing

socialmedian1
Social sharing service Socialmedian has been acquired by European business networking company Xing.

Socialmedian debuted in 2008 with a service at first I couldn’t accurately describe, but grew in popularity as it continued to better filter a mix of interesting content based around a highly engaged community.

Socialmedian’s founder and CEO, Jason Goldberg, will join XING in Hamburg, Germany in the newly created position of Vice President XING Applications Platform.

Xing said that Socialmedian will continue as a standalone business, although aspects of the service will be integrated with Xing’s platform for an increased product spread.

Price of the acquisition was not disclosed.
