This Is Not An Article About The 2014 Grammys: Here’s What Else Happened

Like the title says, this is not an article about the 2014 Grammys.

There’s nothing in this piece about the 2014 Grammys.

Why are you here?

Oh, you’re interested in what else might have happened during the 2014 Grammys? Sweet, yeah we can do that. Our newsfeed is bloated with all that award show stuff too. We were starting to wonder if the rules of time and space were suspended and the 2014 Grammys were some form of cultural singularity or event horizon, the only thing that happened across infinite space and the myriad realities encompassing existence as we know it.

Not that there’s anything wrong with the Grammys.

But in other non-2014 Grammys news, there was an earthquake on the Greek isle of Kefalonia that measured 5.8 on the Richter scale. Buildings and roads suffered serious structural damage and local residents reported being injured in the seismic event. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported as of yet.

On the lighter side of things other than the 2014 Grammys, Batista made a triumphant return to the WWE at the Royal Rumble pay per view event, entering the 30-man, over-the-top battle royal in the 28th spot and taking out Erick Rowan, Ryback, Alberto Del Rio and Roman Reigns en route to headlining Wrestlemania XXX. Reigns set a Royal Rumble record, eliminating 12 men but still coming up short. Tons of fans were disappointed that Daniel Bryan didn’t make an appearance in the Rumble match.

Before the 2014 Grammys, a natural gas pipeline explosion in St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba, Canada has left thousands of households without heat in the frigid, sub-zero Canadian winter. Manitoba Hydro has said service will potentially be suspended for several days while repairs are made. The Canadian Press reports no injuries as of yet.

ABC News reports that, in happenings other than the 2014 Grammys, the small Alaskan port of Valdez has been shut off from the rest of the state when avalanches shut off the only road leading to and from the city. Up to 30 feet of snow and ice have shut down State Route 4 and it’s estimated to be at least a week before it’s cleared. City officials say there is plenty of fuel to survive until the road is reopened. Valdez is known for being the port from which the Exxon-Valdez departed before the infamous 1989 oil spill.

We hear lots of things went on at the 2014 Grammys, so that’s cool.

A lot of other things went on too that we feel may have had more of an impact than the 2014 Grammys.

We just wanted to share.
