YG Entertainment Has Free Workshop To Dance Like ‘Big Bang’ In L.A. — Aimee Lee Lucas Will Teach How To Do K-Pop Moves

Out of all the popular K-pop acts signed under talent label YG Entertainment, the one that seems to be dominating in 2015 is veteran group Big Bang. Originally formed back in 2006, the group consisting of T.O.P., Taeyang, G-Dragon, Daesung, and Seungri went through thick and thin, maturing their sound and polishing their image. Now almost a decade later, Big Bang is still pumping out hits as proven by their hit “Bang Bang Bang” from their album MADE. It was so popular, it made its debut on the top 100 for iTunes U.S. charts. That alone is an accomplishment given the fact it kept up with prominent American acts like Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.

Though Big Bang is recognized as one of the best K-pop groups today, the question is what makes them so good? The answer is actually a collective of reasons, which includes unique style, entertainment lyrics, and catchy beats. Yet, the one reason that will get plenty of attention soon is their choreography because YG Entertainment will host a free workshop in which attendees will be taught how to dance just like Big Bang.

Aimee Lee Lucas will be leading the K-Pop M.V.P. workshop, teaching attendees how to do K-pop choreography.

According to KpopStarz, YG Entertainment will be holding a free workshop , called the K-Pop M.V.P. (Music Video Party), to teach attendees “one of a kind” moves used in K-pop music videos and stage shows. These moves, however, will be similar to the ones performed by Big Bang. The person teaching such moves will be Aimee Lee Lucas, an accomplished dancer and choreographer known for her work with Big Bang, especially in their Japanese music video for their song “Number 1.” Lucas is also known for choreographing dances done by another prominent K-pop group signed to YG Entertainment, 2NE1.

Despite her tutelage bearing fruit in the latest music videos and tours done by Big Bang, 2NE1, and others she’s worked with, Aimee Lee Lucas says her most favorite time to work with such groups is when they are rookies. That way, Lucas can see said groups grow and mature from what she initially taught them.

“My favorite time to work with artists is when they are young and new. As far as Big Bang, they have really grown into their skins. They have their own individual voices and style.”

If said statement is honest, Aimee Lee Lucas must have had an entertaining time at KCON since she is instrumental in establishing the all-day dance workshops. At this year’s event, Lucas actually was part of the five-part series done by BuzzFeed ‘s Try Guys, when she taught them how to do complicated K-pop choreography, which they had to perform in front of an audience of hundreds of people.

Getting back to the free workshop, this is actually the third time Aimee Lee Lucas hosted the K-Pop M.V.P. The first time Lucas held this workshop was during Big Bang’s first tour which had stops in North America, specifically Anaheim, California and Newark, New Jersey, the Big Bang Alive Galaxy Tour 2012. Since then, Lucas has held other dance workshops, but this one is related to Big Bang’s current tour, MADE 2015 World Tour, which will have seven stops in North America including Las Vegas in Nevada, Los Angeles and Anaheim in California, Newark in New Jersey, Mexico City in Mexico, and Toronto in Canada.

The upcoming K-Pop M.V.P. will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in Evolution Dance Studios in North Hollywood, California. It will be from 9 p.m. PST to 10:30 p.m PST. The event is free, but people who want to attend still need to register their ticket at Everbrite.
