New ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Details (Including Who Peter Dinklage Is Playing)

New details have emerged about X-Men: Days of Future Past , the ambitious, Bryan Singer-helmed X-Men film to end all X-Men films (just kidding, there are way more in the pipe ) .

We’re not sure what kind of presence the X-Men film franchise will have at Comic-Con this week , though there is a panel on Saturday. Will they reveal new characters, surprise returning characters, perhaps even some footage?

Who knows. But Vulture has the skinny on a whole slew of new Days factoids, including long-awaited character information.

In front of the pack is the question “ who is Peter Dinklage playing? ” He was announced as the film’s villain months ago, but the character was kept under wraps. We can apparently confirm that he will be playing Bolivar Trask, a human bigot from the comics responsible for creating the Sentinels.

Actor Josh Helman was also recently cast in the film, and will apparently be playing a young William Stryker for the ’60s and ’70s scenes.

Also there are some new plot points to differentiate the big screen adaptation from the Days comic:

“In Singer’s take, Ellen Page returns as Kitty […], but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty’s powers and bring their friend back to the future. Could that be the plot development that brings Anna Paquin’s power-copying Rogue into the fold once again?”

Singer also recently tweeted an image that confirms Lucas Till’s return as Havok:

So I’m pulling for James Marsden to return in some capacity as Cyclops. “But he died in X-Men: The Last Stand ” you say. No body. No body = not dead. Heck, this is comics. Even a body can mean not dead.

Plus, Singer has gone on record in the past saying that Till’s Havok and Marsden’s Cyclops are indeed related in the X-Men film universe, but don’t have the same relationship as in the comics (they’re brothers). That kind of makes me think he planned on addressing the connection at some point.

Are you excited for X-Men: Days of Future Past?
