WWE Rumors: Steve Austin Talks About Why Goldberg’s First WWE Run ‘Went Wrong’

If there’s anyone who should know about what went on in the WWE during Goldberg’s first run with the company, it’s his contemporary, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. And the latest WWE rumors suggest that Stone Cold knows exactly what went wrong the first time Goldberg was in the WWE, which is why he’s taking care not to do it again.
According to The International Business Times UK’s latest WWE rumors report, while Stone Cold is happy for his friend, he also knows that there was a lot of things that went wrong — namely, they involve how he couldn’t translate his popularity from the WCW to the WWE.
Said Stone Cold:
“He was coming off being paid by WCW, had a great deal over there, he was super super over in WCW. The window already closed, I was getting ready to get out of there, so Stone Cold vs. Goldberg never happened. All of these years that go by, because he was so over in WCW, he gets in the big leagues, whether it was the writing or he didn’t really fit the system for whatever reasons, when he got back in the ring [on the Oct. 24 episode of Raw ], and that crowd started going ‘Goldberg,’ he had tears in his eyes.”
Hot off the heels of Goldberg’s successful return to the ring, the latest WWE rumors report from Wrestlezone suggest that Steve Austin might be following in his friend’s footsteps. At the very least, he’s squashing old beefs, thus making a return to the ring easier if, indeed, he decides to do so.

Wrestlezone sat down with former WCW president Eric Bischoff, who earned the ire of a lot of Stone Cold’s fans when he supposedly fired Stone Cold from the WCW, forcing him to go to the WWE. After getting interrogated for more than five minutes, wherein every grievance against Stone Cold that he had was supposedly “aired out,” Bischoff calmly put the rumors to rest when he answered with one sentence.
“We had three beers, just so you know.”
Although Stone Cold is enjoying a successful post-wrestling career as a media personality, an actor, and an entrepreneur, fans shouldn’t rule out the possibility of him returning to the ring, either, especially given Goldberg’s success in doing so.

Finally, the latest WWE rumors from 411Mania suggest that Stone Cold Steve Austin will be banking on the same thing that Goldberg is banking on when he returns to the ring: the crowd’s reaction. Ultimately, according to the outlet, Stone Cold knows that that vast majority of Goldberg’s success has to do with the fact that the crowd absolutely loves him, and for good reason.
And this is something that Stone Cold can bank on, as well, because he came of age in a time known as the “Golden Age of Wrestling,” when there was healthy competition for ratings because of the WWE and the WCW being in existence. And, according to 411Mania, the positive reaction from the fans is what keeps the wrestlers going, even when all else seems lost.
It should be made clear, again, that nothing definitive has been set regarding Stone Cold’s potential return. However, fans would not seem to mind.
