A former World Heavyweight Champion in WWE suffered a serious head injury on Thursday that has the wrestling world concerned and talking. Dalip Singh Rana, better known as The Great Khali in WWE, was reportedly seriously injured during a match at a promotional event with Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE) in India. Now, many are beginning to wonder if the injury is legit or part of an angle.
During a match against Brody Steele, Khali was going back and forth, but it was the aftermath that ended up causing him injury.
Mike Knox, another former WWE star, hit the ring with a few other Canadian wrestlers, and attacked The Great Khali. The group beat down Khali and split him open, leaving him bloodied in the middle of the ring.

According to The Times of India, Khali was actually airlifted from Haldwani to Dehradun, and he was immediately admitted to a local hospital. Doctors that were treating The Great Khali said that he was indeed in stable conditions and had no worrying signs.
During his time in the ICU, before being admitted, The Great Khali ended up receiving seven stitches to his head in order to close the wound. Dr. A.K. Singh, the director of the neurology department at the hospital in Dehradun, updated everyone on his status.
“He is stable and completely out of danger. He did not lose consciousness so there are no worrying signs about his health.”
Wrestling Inc. is not entirely sure how serious this situation with The Great Khali actually is, and believe it may be a work. They’re reporting that a number of India media outlets are taking the actions in the wrestling match to be very serious and “real.”
It should come to the realization that The Great Khali happened to be airlifted to a hospital in the city where his wrestling promotion is having their next event. He was not treated at a hospital in Haldwani because the medical treatment was said to not be adequate or efficient.
Around 18,000 attended the event and witnessed the after-match beatdown of The Great Khali by Mike Knox and others. Numerous videos have shown up online, and the end of the match also shows them keeping help out of the ring by swinging chairs at anyone and everyone that gets close.
The Great Khali started with Deep South Wrestling in 2006 and quickly moved up to the WWE main roster that same year. He jumped into a feud with The Undertaker and then ended up winning the World Heavyweight Championship in the summer of 2007 by winning a battle royal for the vacant belt.
He held onto it until September of 2007 when he lost it to Batista in a triple threat match that also included Rey Mysterio. He ended up staying with WWE through 2014 when his contract expired and he left the company.
Now, he runs his own wrestling school and promotion in India which is the subject of this huge story which has made its way around the world.
The injury to The Great Khali may or may not be legit, but it is not as serious as it was originally made out to be by the media in India. He was cut open and it may have all been part of the storyline, but the former World Heavyweight Champion in WWE is now in good condition and will wrestle again.
