WWE Rumors: Conor McGregor’s Agent Says Fighter Is ‘Open’ To Joining The Company

Conor McGregor is the Fighting Pride of Ireland, the biggest star in the UFC today, and soon to be a father. Yet, the latest WWE rumors suggest that the Irishman isn’t quite content with all that he has, and would be interested in entertaining an offer from the WWE if one is provided.
ESPN was the first to bring this exciting report from the WWE rumors mill when they sat down with Audie Attar, Conor’s agent, for the 5ive Rounds podcast. Attar, who mentioned that McGregor will be taking some time off until about May 2017 to prepare for the birth of his first child, said that for the fighter, his decision to join will be almost exclusively based on the money.
“I think it’s all about business, man. If [WWE] is going to come with an offer, we are willing to entertain it. We are here. Have their people call his people — which is me. We can have a conversation.”
The rumors about McGregor joining the company first began circulating when Paul “Triple H” Levesque appeared at Madison Square Garden in New York City to see McGregor fight. At the time, the wrestler remarked that McGregor would be a great addition to the WWE stable.
“He could come over, he’s got it all, man. He’s got the personality, the skills, the talk. He’s an entertainer, for sure.”

McGregor isn’t only interested in being the topic of the latest WWE rumors, though. In a separate report from ESPN, Attar confirmed that McGregor would also be interested in taking on a boxing match against the currently undefeated Floyd Mayweather. According to reports, McGregor wants $100 million for the fight to happen, and Attar dismissed the criticism of his client’s demands by pointing out that this was a conversation started by Mayweather, not McGregor.
“It was something Floyd started and Conor responded in kind on social media. It’s obviously built up public interest. Part of that may have been Floyd testing waters — I really don’t know what his motives are. All I can tell you is we are very interested if it’s serious. Ultimately, I think we have to see if it’s real or not. That’s what it comes down to.”
To Attar’s point, Mayweather last fought in the ring more than a year ago — September 2015, to be precise. In that fight, Mayweather defeated Andre Beto by unanimous decision. Mayweather, who is 49-0 in his career with 26 KOs, announced his retirement right after that fight.

But while many wrestling fans are excited about the prospect of McGregor joining the WWE, the latest WWE rumors from Metro suggest that there are more than a few people who think that this transition would be disastrous for McGregor.
We’ll recall that, not long ago, a Twitter war erupted between McGregor and members of the WWE when McGregor accused the fighters of being little more than “messed up p*****s.” When he said that, everyone from Ric Flair to Roman Reigns jumped in to defend themselves (with the latter hilariously remarking that McGregor was “the size of his leg”).
Afterwards, McGregor issued an apology of sorts.
I didn’t mean no disrespect to the @wwe fans. What I meant to say was that I’d slap the head off your entire roster. And twice on Sunday’s.

Looking back at it now, it may seem like this “beef” was all for show, and to promote McGregor’s possible joining of the WWE roster. For now, according to Metro, the fighter’s next match is scheduled to be in the UFC.
