Despite going up against the latest presidential debate in the ratings, the WWE No Mercy results proved favorable for both the wrestlers and the viewers. And regardless of whether the viewership was where it should be, the WWE No Mercy results will certainly be talked about for months to come. Let’s take a look at some of the best fights — and the best winners — of the night.

Notable Fight #1: Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz Despite previous reports that Ziggler had one foot out the proverbial door when this match was announced, the WWE No Mercy results were definitely in his favor, according to CBS News . One of the things that make SmackDown so successful is its focus on wrestling, rather than the hokey drama, and nowhere was this better demonstrated than in the fight between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. The Miz tried desperately to hold on to his longtime title, but he ultimately lost the Intercontinental belt to Dolph Ziggler, who — it seems — is going to be staying on with the WWE for a little while longer now that he has a championship under his belt. And though this means that Dolph won’t be retiring anytime soon, does that mean that The Miz will be?

Notable Fight #2: AJ Styles vs. John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose Perhaps one of the strangest decisions on the part of the WWE was to put this fight on first, but the WWE No Mercy results were still the same, according to The Mirror . AJ Styles has a love-hate relationship with wrestling fans , because they’re really not sure what to make of him despite having a long and storied history in the wrestling world. He’s the only wrestler to have a major title at both TNA and the WWE, and he demonstrated that he’s more than capable of retaining his title when he successfully defeated both John Cena and Dean Ambrose in a fight that, at times, looked more like a free-for-all than a wrestling match. And while The Mirror believes that this fight should have been the last fight of the night, rather than the first, it was still a satisfying fight as AJ Styles retained his WWE World Championship title. The only question that now remains is, where does AJ Styles’ storyline go from here?

Notable Fight #3: Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton This fight was, perhaps, the most disappointing fight of all, according to Fox Sports . And no one is surprised that the WWE No Mercy results were in favor of Randy Orton . But that doesn’t make the fight any less disappointing. Yes, it’s great that Randy Orton got our sympathy vote after he got brutalized by Brock Lesnar. No, no one in their right mind thought that Bray Wyatt would win this fight — after all, Bray has a knack for losing every fight he’s in these days. But, honestly, is this the best The Viper can do? It’s not the fact that he can’t wrestle, nor is it the fact that he’s “older” and therefore should be put out to pasture. It’s the fact that, as wrestling fans, we’ve come to expect so much more from Randy Orton — and everyone knows that, in his prime, Randy Orton didn’t need anyone to help him win a fight, let alone Luke Harper (of all people). This is a man that perfected the Sister Abigail, after all. Let’s hope that the next fight that Randy Orton is in is against someone that’s actually of his caliber.
