WWE News: ‘Thursday Night SmackDown’ Spoiler-Free Preview [The New Day vs. Y2AJ]

After two massive beatings on WWE Raw , tonight’s WWE Thursday Night SmackDown will go without Brock Lesnar, Dean Ambrose or Roman Reigns. The WWE hopes that an appearance by WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H will make up for the lack of top-tier star power.

SmackDown spoilers are currently available for tonight’s show, but a spoiler-free preview follows. Aside from Triple H cutting a promo, The New Day will see action against The Phenomenal One, Y2J, and a mystery opponent. The League of Nations is involved in an Eight-Man Tag Team Match, and Natalya returns to action to face one of Charlotte’s potential WrestleMania 32 opponents.

Following the spoiler-free match list, a deeper look at WWE’s official SmackDown preview is presented. This episode of WWE Thursday Night SmackDown, airing on the USA Network on February 25, was taped in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 23.

  • As WWE has been advertising, Triple H will address the WWE Universe regarding the recent events involving Roman Reigns.
  • The Lucha Dragons, Dolph Ziggler and Neville vs. The League of Nations
  • Kevin Owens vs. The Big Show
  • Jimmy Uso vs. D-Von Dudley
  • Becky Lynch vs. Natalya
  • R-Truth vs. Heath Slater
  • The New Day vs. A.J. Styles, Chris Jericho, and TBA

The recently-revamped WWE.com has posted their official SmackDown preview, asking questions about five stories, matches, or feuds that the WWE Universe can expect to be featured on this week’s episode.

What carnage will follow Triple H to SmackDown?

What The Game did to The Big Dog at the conclusion of Raw on Monday was pretty vicious. The photos of Roman Reigns that he shared with Instagram and Twitter aren’t exactly easy on the eyes.

Despite the aggressively heelish beat-down The Cerebral Assassin gave Reigns, the crowd in Detroit mostly cheered Triple H on. Will he receive the same reaction from the WWE Universe in Indianapolis?

Which Superstar will team up with AJ Styles and Chris Jericho?

Is the program between A.J. Styles and Chris Jericho finished? It’s been in the works since the night after Royal Rumble 2016 .

Could the team of Y2AJ develop into something serious?

Will Natalya present a roadblock in Becky Lynch’s Road to WrestleMania?

On a week when she was barely featured on Total Divas , Natalya gets another in-ring match on the main roster. While the Anvil’s daughter won’t be the main focus of the match, she is indirectly involved with the leading WWE Divas for one night.

On tonight’s ‘WWE SmackDown,’ Becky Lynch faces Natalya, but Sasha Banks and Team B.A.D. will be in attendance (image via WWE ).

One has to believe that a host of other Divas will be present, such as Tamina, Sasha Banks, and Charlotte.

Can Neville, The Lucha Dragons & Dolph Ziggler rise above The League of Nations?

Are The League of Nations feuding with The Lucha Dragons, or are they going to start a program with The New Day? Will they be going after the WWE United States Championship or the WWE Tag Team Championship?

The New Day crossing paths with the League may have been a one-time thing. The results of SmackDown should provide some clarity.

Can Jimmy Uso turn the tables on D-Von Dudley?

It’s interesting that the WWE paired these two teams up for what could very possibly culminate in a match at WrestleMania 32. The only question is whether or not the Dudleys can be coerced into bringing back the tables for one more big match.

Not a lot is to be expected of a match like this, but you can bet Jey and Bubba Ray will get involved.

Where To Watch

USA airs WWE Thursday Night SmackDown at 8/7c. While they are not made available on the WWE Network for several weeks after they air on USA, replays of WWE SmackDown are available on-demand with a Hulu Plus subscription starting Friday.
