On the upcoming episode of WWE Raw , wrestling fans will see a rare match take place that doesn’t happen very often on the show, or at pay-per-views. The Monday night brand will have two of their mid-card superstars battling it out in the ring with a special stipulation in place for the match. In the past, fans have seen superstars compete with various objects they must retrieve from the top of a pole, and Monday will bring a similar match for two stars. Whether or not it translates into anything further remains to be seen. However, fans may get to see a gimmick match take place that WWE doesn’t use quite as much these days.
According to a recent report from the WWE website, the latest Raw episode will be held in the United Kingdom at Manchester Arena. As part of the announced match card, Jason Jordan and “The Drifter” Elias will compete in a “Guitar on a Pole” match this coming Monday night. To win the match, one of the two superstars has to be the first to climb up, retrieve the guitar from the pole in the ring corner, and then use it on their opponent. The match was booked after Elias attacked Jordan with his guitar several weekends ago during the Raw brand’s exclusive pay-per-view event.

The two superstars have been feuding over the past several weeks, with the recent segment during the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2017 pay-per-view also figuring into their situation. During the event, Elias tried to perform up on stage several times during the night but was pelted by fruit and vegetables thrown by a nearby Jason Jordan. Later in the evening, they competed in a match where Jason Jordan won by disqualification after Elias smashed his guitar on him.
Jordan isn’t the first superstar to feel the wrath of the guitar smash either. Elias previously hit “The Demon” Finn Balor with a vicious guitar shot. The Raw heel superstar follows in the footsteps of several other classic heels who used a guitar on their opponents quite a bit too. Back in the WWF days, longtime Intercontinental Champion The Honky Tonk Man was known for smashing his guitar over opponents. Years later, that trend continued as “Double J” Jeff Jarrett, also an Intercontinental Champion, used the musical instrument as a weapon to inflict damage on his opponents. Elias is carrying on the tradition in the modern days of WWE.
As far as who will win on Monday night, it would seem that Jason Jordan may finally be able to extract some revenge after becoming Elias’ latest “smash hit.” Fans are hoping that this will also bring a close to this feud and maybe move these two mid-card superstars onto something different.
