WWE News: Shawn Michaels On Today’s WWE Product, ‘It’s Not Easy To Miss’

In a total surprise, three WWE legends made their way back to WrestleMania. It took place after the League of Nations defeated the New Day in a non-title match. Sheamus and company got on the microphone to say they are the best group of guys in WWE history. Then, Shawn Michaels’ music hit. The crowd at AT&T Stadium erupted. He tore his shirt off and was in his wrestling gear. After that, a car crash-like sound blew throughout the speakers.

Mick Foley, the hardcore legend, entered the building. Just to think it wasn’t crazy enough at WrestleMania 32, Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Texas-native, appeared and the WWE Universe got off their seat in excitement. All three men looked at each other and nodded as they walked towards the ring during a great WrestleMania moment. The three legends took to beating the League of Nations up, followed by antics with the New Day.

It was news that drew everyone to WrestleMania 32. As far as the part-time wrestlers returning to the company that night, it was most-likely a one-time deal. None of them can’t, or want to, wrestle anymore. Shawn Michaels made that apparent recently in an interview with Vince Russo on his podcast, which is odd for the Heartbreak Kid, who usually is positive about World Wrestling Entertainment.

Shawn Michaels revealed that he doesn’t miss being in the WWE, because it’s not the same product he is used to.

“Everybody asks me, ‘Do you miss it?’ No, I don’t miss it, because what’s on TV now isn’t what I used to do. So it’s easy not to miss.

“I get what those hardcore fans say and they don’t like it, but at the same time, and I’m gonna get a ton of heat for this, but it is true: You DO keep watching. The ratings may go down, but we’re not losing you.”

There’s a specific reason why Michaels walked away from the wrestling industry. He talked about that in-depth with Jonathan Coachman on ESPN the month before WrestleMania 32.

“Shawn said it came down to spending time with family. He talked about what led to that decision. Shawn said walking away from WWE was a huge step but it wasn’t a tough decision when it came to his family. Shawn wanted to be there for his family but at the same time, he wanted to do his job justice and says he had the best ‘dance partner’ in The Undertaker that night.”

Shawn Michaels is missed in the WWE, but that’s mostly because there isn’t anybody nearly as promoted as HBK that the fans can accept. Instead of building mostly young stars, they bring back part-time wrestlers far too often. Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho are the exceptions to the rule, that is, when booking wants to have them put someone over.

Triple H is on the fence, simply because he felt that it was necessary to put over Roman Reigns, when it wasn’t the right idea. A heel Dean Ambrose would’ve put over Reigns in a better light than Triple H. Don’t get me wrong when I say that those part-time guys are legends and have done a lot for the business. However, their time is done and it’s now appropriate for young guys to put over themselves.

WWE’s Reigns doesn’t need Triple H to elevate him to a certain amount of stardom that Reigns needs to attain by himself. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, and Cesaro are three examples of guys who weren’t shoved down the fans’ throats. That’s why they are successful in what they do, and were able to put over superstars of equal status in the WWE.
