WWE Raw dropped a bombshell on the WWE Universe earlier today. After the report came out about Vince McMahon and the rest of the WWE officials concerned about the ratings, they decided to stack the desk at a future show. WWE.com sent out a press release on the website that Shawn Michaels, the Undertaker, and more are coming to WWE Raw on October 16.
“As Brock Lesnar’s Go to Hell Tour winds its way toward Los Angeles, The Beast Incarnate’s infernal caravan will make a stopover on WWE’s flagship show, where a few Legends and Hall of Famers will join the ride.”
“WWE.com can confirm that the Oct. 19 Raw, scheduled to emanate live from Dallas — the home city of WrestleMania 32 — will not only feature a live appearance by Lesnar, but also WWE Hall of Famers Shawn Michaels, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Ric Flair, as well as Lesnar’s Hell in a Cell opponent, The Undertaker.”
This will do one thing, and that’s bring in the rating Vince McMahon isn’t happy for right now. Ringside News is reporting that McMahon is “freaking out” over the recent decline in ratings. To quote the wrestling website, they noted, “WWE usually ends up making some kind of big change when Vince starts to ‘freak out’ about the ratings.”
The huge episode of WWE Raw is evident of the ratings being in decline. There are different ways to handle a ratings crisis. One, McMahon could elevate new stars to higher ranks in the company. One moment can change the entire course of the company. Take CM Punk’s promo for example. What that did for the WWE can’t be put into words. Punk started a revolution.
What Paige did on Raw a few days ago helped jumpstart the Divas Revolution, but that won’t turn an entire company around. A lot of opinions floating around the Internet Wrestling Community are the stacked cards for Raw, but not Smackdown each week. Also, the fact that their flagship program is three hours is too saturated.
The biggest criticism is the even-steven booking that may occur each night. Wins and losses aren’t as important in the WWE as they used to be. Cesaro was close to becoming the most over guy in the WWE, but he now is losing to Big Show on a weekly basis. Also, the shows aren’t as important as they once were. There needs to be a lot of changes to help WWE Raw gain back their ratings.
