WWE News: Roman Reigns Asked About Potential Match With The Rock

There are certain times in WWE history that “time stands still.” The moment when Hulk Hogan and the Rock met in the squared circle can be considered as one of those moments. Even when Rock wrestled John Cena for the first time counts as one of those instances. At the end of the day, it’s all about how the WWE portrays a storyline that makes it special or not. Despite what WWE fans may think, there are still storylines out there that could create that moment.

Roman Reigns is the WWE World Heavyweight champion and is still trying to get the fans behind him. When he won the belt, the WWE Universe couldn’t have been happier. Fans were either thrilled about Reigns getting the title or they were just satisfied Sheamus lost the belt. Either way, the two-time WWE champion is ready to head into the Royal Rumble with his belt on the line.

Two stars are expected to contend for the winner of the WWE championship. Triple H and Reigns are those two wrestlers. This is also rumored to lead up to their climactic match at WrestleMania 32. While some are interested in that bout, others are complaining because Triple H doesn’t need to be in the main event at WrestleMania.

If one WWE legend was interested returning for another program and match, then Reigns’ stock would immediately go up. In a recent interview with Roman Reigns, he discussed the idea of the Rock challenging him for the WWE championship.

“I expect The Rock would want to keep his pretty face intact for Hollywood. He better stay away from me in the ring. But honestly, anybody who wants to get into the ring with me and take the world title, just try!”

WWE fans would love to see the Rock win the WWE title from Reigns, but it’s highly unlikely to happen. What they don’t realize is that Rock would give Reigns the “rub” he would need to finally get over permanently. Even though his title win was phenomenal, the sizzle went away and Reigns’ stock dropped. A big opportunity came for Reigns overseas that is also being overlooked.

John Cena’s injury caused a rift and schedule change for the WWE’s tour of India. As their biggest draw, officials had to make a big change spontaneously. Roman Reigns was that guy, and he talked about it in that same interview.

“It’s a great honour. John Cena has been the standard-bearer of professional wrestling for the past 10-12 years, and to follow in his footsteps is a great opportunity. I just want to give my best and represent my family and my people.

“It’s unfortunate that John couldn’t be here because of the injury and we all hope he will be fit again soon. I for one, can’t wait to square off against him. But then, you have to remember that I’m the reigning world heavyweight champion. There is a certain weight to that, a certain standard. Like John used to say, ‘The champ is here and in the end, that’s all that matters!'”

That was truly a big test for the WWE champion to see if he could draw on an international level. If it was a success, then Reigns can be that man to draw on a worldwide scale. He may not be the man who can lead the WWE on a yearly basis, but not every big draw holds the WWE championship and is in the main event constantly. When the WWE had Stone Cold, the Rock, the Undertaker, Triple H, and Mankind, all of them drew at different times and in different places.
