WWE Hall Of Famer Discusses Circumstances Surrounding Jimmy Snuka Murder Case

WWE Hall of Famer “Magnificent” Don Muraco was the featured guest on the 100th episode of the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, and during his rare interview with the show’s hosts, he discussed his extensive career in the wrestling business. Muraco reflected upon his best feuds and most famous opponents, including his rivalry with Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka in 1983. The two men were involved in a hi-octane feud for the WWF Intercontinental championship, which produced a number of memorable “promos” and one of wrestling’s most enduring moments when Jimmy Snuka hit Muraco with a leap off a 15-foot high steel cage during their historical match at Madison Square Garden.

The same year of his epic feud with Muraco, Jimmy Snuka was investigated for his role in the death of his then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino. As reported by Inquisitr, Snuka was recently indicted for murder in the 32-year-old case after the matter was reopened by prosecutors.

Speaking on Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, Muraco recalled the circumstances surrounding the initial investigation of Snuka, suggesting that he was uncomfortably close to the situation and worried that it might ultimately affect his life and livelihood. Pro wrestling news clearing house WrestlingINC shared a partial transcription of Muraco’s recollections.

“I was right there around it the whole time,” Muraco said. “It was the week after we shot the thing where [Snuka] tore all my clothes off and I hit him with the microphone. The same night, it was the oddest coincidence. That same night Eddie Gilbert had run his brand new Lincoln Town Car off the back end of a semi-truck and got drug down the freeway and he called me in the middle of the night and that’s how I ended up crossing over with all of the State Troopers and everything else and that’s how I got involved, but I could see my whole future going down the drain there for a while.”

Don Muraco further noted that he spoke with Jimmy Snuka on occasion prior to Snuka’s diagnosis with stomach cancer, noting that he hasn’t talked to his fellow Hall of Famer since that news broke. Muraco said he was recently asked by Jimmy’s wife to visit the next time he’s near Snuka’s home in New Jersey and indicated that he’ll likely see his former rival at some point in the near future to “perk up his spirits.”

Jimmy Snuka was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996 and Don Muraco was inducted in 2004. While Muraco largely retired from in-ring competition in 1995, Snuka worked sporadic independent and WWE events up until the manifestation of his above-noted health issues.

Jimmy Snuka is currently out of jail on $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing in Snuka’s pending murder case was recently continued and a trial date has not been scheduled.
